Of all the stand-a-lone novels by WKK, this one was by far my favorite. Probably because it was a lot more aligned to the Cork O’Connor books. I liked the characters, some were flawed, some were lonely, and some were seeking something new in their lives. The suspense kept me wanted to read more in hopes that the next page would solve everything. My favorite characters were Brody, Connie, Charlie, Scott, and Angie. When the person of interest in a crime finally confessed, it surprised me. It was also neat to read the epilogue, as it fast forwarded to what happened to most of the characters mentioned in the book.
The title was very appropriate as the Alabaster River had so many different memories for all the characters.

Thanks for the joy you have given me this year. I have finished reading all of your Cork O’Connor books and stand-a-lone novels, and really enjoyed them all. Evens God’s Country, which I got as an advanced reader copy from NetGalley.
I enjoyed seeing Cork’s family grow up (despite having some of them die). I love that they all take place in Minnesota (we moved to MN last June from Texas). I have actually read quite a few other authors where there books also take place in Minnesota, and it’s cool as the weather is a great background character.
I want to grab a table at Sam’s Place, and order a burger, fries, and a shake and then would love to do a sweat with Henry.
I am very much looking forward to seeing the TV series based on Cork. I am really interested as to who will play Cork. I know, I don’t have say, but can I request Mark Ruffalo please?
Lastly, I was excited that I would have a chance to see you in June at the MN Mystery Night at Lucky’s 13 Pub in Mendota, but by the time I looked at booking a ticket, it was already sold out. But, I have reviewed your future appearances, and am planning to see you in St. Paul on August 20th at Barnes & Noble at the HarHar Mall.
