Since I just finished reading all of WKKs Cork O’Connor books, I wanted to read his stand-a-lone novels. I already read The Devils Bed as that main character was in a Cork book, so I read it to be prepared.
In a lot of the Facebook groups for book reviews that I belong to, a lot of people have been sharing this as their current read.
It was interesting as the point of view was that of a 13-year-old, who is actually retelling the story many later. As a teen in 1961, Frank tells the story of death, from an accident, nature, suicide, and murder. Frank is very curious and wants to know everything and everywhere he goes, his 11-year old brother, Jake comes with him. Ariel, whom is 18-years-old is the older sister. Parents are Nathan, a pastor, and Ruth.
For this one, I enjoyed it, but not as much as the Cork books. It did take place in Minnesota, but in July, so the weather was warm.
