School has been out for almost a month, and Niko’s bedtime has changed from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm. However, since we visited San Antonio on June 9th through June 12th, that bedtime hasn’t been achieved yet (well, I think once, he was able to do it). We get him in bed at 7:30 and close his door, thinking all is good, but nope, he gets up several times for a quick bathroom break. Let me also tell you, when this happens, it’s not quiet, it’s actually loud! Nina and I do try to ask him if everything in his world is good and by that we mean, do you have to use the bathroom, are you hungry, are you thirsty, are you warm, are you cold, are the blankets sufficient, or do you need something else to wear (no matter the weather, he wears long sleeve shirts and sweatpants to bed and the same when he goes out in the world, although he wears a t-shirt and long sleeve button down over it). Eventually, around 9 or 10 pm, he is finally able to sleep for a long time. I really hope this is a phase and it will be over soon. That also means, he sleeps in later in the morning.
Well, on Thursday morning, because he slept till almost 10 am, we moved his bedtime that evening to 9:00 pm. Before bed, we had popcorn and watched a Percy Jackson movie. Right when he was preparing his room for bed, something spontaneous and really funny happened. His window was open for a breeze as in the evenings, we turn off the a/c and open the windows (they all have screens). Well, he threw his pillow (why, don’t ask me) and it hit the screen and the screen and pillow both decided to take a two-story plunge to the outside world. Nina ran outside to get it, and had to jerry-rig the screen back in place (let’s just say, in the next few weeks, we will be calling somebody to replace it). As I was tucking him in a few minutes later, I felt something sticky in the pillow and pulled out a stick (Niko pulled out three more). All we could do was laugh!!!
