Last Thursday was the last day of the 4th grade for Niko, and to celebrate that and also the fact that he did awesome (despite several absences due to being sick or being tired), we got him a Nintendo Switch 2. He wanted it earlier, but were adamantly saying not till after school on Thursday. After we picked him up, we went to a nearby coffee shop and got Niko a cookies and cream shake. Nina and I got nothing. If I was driving, I would’ve also stopped at a taco food truck nearby (because I like food).
When we arrived home, Niko was ready to make the switch and switch from the Nintendo Switch to the Nintendo Switch 2 all without flipping all the switches in the house. It took a few minutes for that switch to happen and while it was doing its thing, it was also downloading Metroid Prime 4, a video game that he requested. He’s been playing a really old version of it. Eventually, everything got completed and he was in a video game coma for a few hours before bed!
One of the features of the Switch 2 is GameChat, and on Friday, he was chatting and sharing his screen with a classmate from when we lived in San Antonio. It was really fun hearing him chatting away. I don’t know how many times he said BRUH with his classmate!
Besides swim lessons at the high school and a chess club class this summer, we have no major plans. Nina does want to take him for adventures in our area and of course, St. Paul and Minneapolis. If my schedule allows, I would like to join them once a week.
