Today, and only today, Niko and I will spoil Nina. Whatever she wants, she gets! Wait, this isn’t right. In our life, it’s not a day, it a year for us and Nina.
Two things I have done on a consistent basis to help Nina for the past several years is:
- No matter what time it is, I get up when Niko wakes up for good or when we wakes up for a quick pee. I know she can hear us as we are loud, but she doesn’t have to worry about anything. See, the reason for this is very simple as I am a master sleeper and can very easily go back to bed. Nina, on the other hand, is not and if she wakes up, it will take her a long time to go back to sleep. And, this doesn’t matter if it’s a weekday or a weekend.
- She can cook and bake for us, and I will clean up. No matter how many pots, frying pans, bowls, plates, utensils, or cups are used. It also doesn’t matter where the dirty dishes end up as I will track them down. Sometimes, she calls me too efficient because as soon as a plate or cup are set down, I will swing by and grab it. Occasionally, she holds onto it for dear life. Sometimes, I ask her if she is still eating if there is something left after it’s been put down. In addition to kitchen duties, I am also the garbage collector and professional cat litter scooper!
A few weeks ago, I was scrolling through Facebook (for what, I have no clue), and an advertisement for something piqued my interest as something that Nina may enjoy. It was a company I have never heard of, but the product was a lap desk pillow. I could easily see her using it, so I ordered one.
I had a brilliant idea as well. I logged into my Shutterfly account and ordered a picture collage of Niko with me and him as the middle picture.
Lastly, on Thursday, I ran (well, that is a figure of speech) to Target and stocked my basket full of sweets that Nina likes. While I was there, I was provided a small list of groceries from Nina and Niko. Niko was sick last week (cough and a fever for a few days). Niko also knows that when I am shopping at Target, I most always get some food at the deli area (he requested a sandwich, lays potato chips, orange juice, and something with chocolate!). It was a success shopping for everybody. Nina makes fun of me because one time, she sent me to the grocery store with a list and I only got a few things from it. I blamed it on myself as I was flirting with some older ladies! When she texted me the Target list, she threw in the aisle number.
Today, if Nina wants anything from the outside world food wise, I will be happy to get it.
Also, last week, yesterday, today, and next week, I am slowly working on putting together IKEA furniture. We got two small bookcases (one for Nina and one for Nina), a wardrobe for Nina, a dresser for Niko, a tall storage cabinet for the living room, and a under the window sideboard for the living room. I will get my armoire back as soon as Niko’s new dresser is assembled. Some old IKEA furniture will go downstairs in the basement. Before Niko was born, I despised this task, but now, I am sort of an old pro for IKEA stuff. A few months ago, I put 4 large IKEA bookcases and 2 small IKEA bookcases together (one for Nina and one for Niko). I will say having an electric screwdriver is a big help!
Nina, we love you so much and I am so glad I found you. We have a great life, and I can’t wait to see what happens next for us.
