I am 10

Note: This was written by me, in the voice of Niko! Niko did read it, and added a few things. He does read them when they are published. He does wish he could write like this every week like I do, but he gets distracted easily. I did tell him, I can help you and it doesn’t have to be long, just stick to a schedule. like I do.

Yesterday, I turned 10-years-old. My parents kept asking me what I wanted to do and on Thursday, they gave me some options. I chose The Original Pancake House for breakfast. My dad and I ate there (a different location, though) on Wednesday as we had to drop moo (mom) off for a back shot. It was less than 5 minutes away. I couldn’t wait and was super excited. I have seen several YouTube videos about this restaurant and it being one of the best (maybe even the best)! Let me tell you, it was the best breakfast I have ever had. I got orange juice, strawberry crepes, a side of bacon, and a side of sunny side up eggs. I was having a blast smothering my food in cream, maple syrup, and a warm strawberry juice. My dad was happy as he got a meat lovers omelette (bacon, sausage, ham, and cheese) with a side of pancakes. My dad always shares as I forgot to order pancakes, so I got one of his. About 10 minutes into our eating experience, moo called dad and said pick me up. Dad quickly got the attention of the waitress and asked for to go bags, the check, and a to go drink for my OJ. We got moo and then had to get a drink and some food at Starbucks for her. For lunch, at home, dad and I had our leftovers.

Why wasn’t I at school? Well, my foot was hurting a lot as I took a tumble at school a few days ago. That day, my class was going to walk about a mile to the other elementary school and help the youngsters do tie dye. My class did ours last week, and even though I was at school, I left early because I wasn’t feeling well. My teacher finished it for me. My dad made the executive family decision for me to stay home on Wednesday, and I had my iPad, Switch, Bluetooth headphones, a lunch bag full of snacks, a cold lemonade, and a piece of toast with butter. I was good with everything, but the toast was hard as a rock so I gave it to my dad to eat. I am glad we still have the walking boot from a few months ago and crutches as my foot pain seems to come and go. I was told by my parents and the doctor it’s muscle spasms, and I was offered a shot, but I said nope! I did make it to school on Thursday with my walking boot (and I switched to a shoe for gym, but she went easy on me). My dad messaged my teacher and gym teacher in the morning, so he probably told the gym teacher to go easy on me. On Friday, I took medicine and that helped so much that I only wore my ankle brace. Funny, it’s been pain free since. I am hoping that dad cancels my appointment scheduled for Tuesday with the foot doctor (I don’t want a shot).

On Friday, moo and dad picked me up from school and I immediately thought what is going on? Usually it’s moo. The excuse was they went to a book sale at the library across the street. I did see books! Then, my dad asked if I wanted to get dinner out at that restaurant or that restaurant (he didn’t name them, he pointed, and I think I knew which ones). I wanted to, but I also really wanted to get home and put on comfy home clothes. Then, my dad suggested pizza, and I was all over that and told moo to order from Papa Johns!

For breakfast on Saturday, we had a small wait, so to combat that, my parents took me across the parking lot for a blueberry bagel with strawberry cream cheese and on orange juice. Moo got a coffee and dad got nothing!

At the pancake house, I got pancakes, bacon, fried eggs, hash browns covered in cheese, fresh squeezed orange juice, and even a stack of free birthday pancakes. Moo got bacon and eggs with a side of Canadian bacon. I saw something on the menu and thought dad would love it, and he ordered it, but without jalapeños. It was called the Campfire Hash bowl, and it had cheesy eggs, hash browns, bacon, chorizo sausage, and peppers. We all enjoyed everything. It was so much better than IHOP and Perkins!

After breakfast, we went to Dicks Sporting Goods, and I tried on a pair of roller blades and sat on a few bikes, but nothing was purchased. Dad also looked at some bikes, but didn’t get anything either. He is a thinker and researcher, so I bet he will check out other stores.

After we arrived back home, we had a tie-dye party. I dyed one sunset colors, one galaxy colors, and one primary colors. After dinner (which was our leftover breakfast for me), we had cake and even though it was the same cake my dad had, it was absolutely delicious. For me, I got 10 candles! In your face dad! Dad actually saved his leftovers, so he sadly ate some beef pot roast and rice.

Today, I am planning on going to the pool, and my dad says there will be some food trucks (a meatball truck is one of them) across the street from the pool. I think my dad is more excited for that than me, but I like food also, so if the world aligns, I will probably get something.

Oh, how can I forget the gifts: Amazon and Nintendo money from the grandparents and from my parents, it was a fancy chess set, a puzzle mystery book, painting canvases, watercolor pencils, a snorkel, and a new pair of Bluetooth earbuds (my old ones got washed). My parents are set in buying me a bike and rollerblades, so that will happen soon.

In a few weeks, I am having another birthday celebration at the pool as I invited some of my classmates. I am super excited for that.

With all that being said, I had a great birthday. I wonder what 11 will bring?
