I should never go to Target alone when I am hungry because I will raid it for a Boars Head deli sandwich and chicken noodle soup from Panera – both are readily available in the store! My Target has Krispy Kreme donuts, does yours? I will also go to the chip isle and get three different types for Nina, Niko, and me. Then, as I am checking out, I will grab a soda in the fridge near the self-checkout. Sometimes, I will have a small list and I strive to get those things. Yesterday, it was all Niko requests: act II popcorn and hot dog buns. I also got sandwich bread as we were running low, and we didn’t include it on our shopping list from Friday. From the fresh bread area, I grabbed a fresh sourdough bread. As I was checking out, I grabbed a Mr. Beast chocolate bar for Niko. The most important thing I got was flowers for Nina because, well, I don’t need a reason!
I also aways eye the snack bar, as they got fresh popcorn and some quick eats from Pizza Hut. A few times when I have Niko in tow with me, a bag of popcorn is the perfect treat for the drive home. I don’t even glance at Starbucks as I don’t drink coffee. Last time I went to Target, and in addition to the food and drinks, I got a a box of Nutty Bars, and Niko had no clue what they were, and when he tried them, he wanted more! They were gone very quickly as I even hid some from Niko so I could enjoy them without his input. I mean, that day, he got a lot of candy for Easter!
Don’t laugh, but my Target excursions happen more than they should and that is because the CVS I use, is located inside of Target. Get my meds, and hmm, get food and drinks as well. One stop shopping!
When I arrived home, Niko was surprised by all the things I purchased. I was throwing things at him and kept saying congratulations!
My intention, though, was not to get a load of food, but rather, I wanted to look at patio furniture. We have a beautiful deck, and now that the weather is warmer, I want to be able to have a table and chairs on the deck so we can eat and enjoy it more. On Friday morning, I dragged a kitchen chair and my old cheap IKEA nightable out there, and enjoyed the fresh air while I ate my breakfast and read a book. They had a few things, but nothing that I felt I had to purchase. They had the same table and chairs that I had purchased a long time ago, and I gave them to my brother before moved from Texas to Minnesota. I still remember when I purchased them and at that time, I had a Saturn ION coupe, and I tried my best to fit two chairs in it, but just couldn’t do it. So, I called my parents as they had a Saturn VUE for help, because who else am I going to call for help, an UBER delivery driver (UBER wasn’t even a thing yet).
I then, went next door to Home Depot, and they had a few things, but again, nothing was purchased. By the way, Home Depot, is a store I hate to visit because I feel so intimidated in there and I have no clue what 95% of the things in the store do! That is why, when I do have a purpose for it, I buy online and either pick it up or have it delivered. I didn’t try Five Below, Marshalls, or PetSmart for patio stuff as those stores are in the same shopping center as Target and Home Depot!
There is a furniture store about 30 minutes away that has an outdoor section and an Ashley Furniture about 15 minutes away, but those would need to be a family excursion. We are also looking for storage furniture for our living room, basement, and Nina’s bedroom. We were hoping to go to Ashley yesterday, but Niko had no interest in getting dressed (he was tired). So, that was why I ventured out alone to Target and Home Depot.
It’s funny, because, on the way there, I almost decided to just get lunch at a Chinese restaurant that I haven’t yet tried, and then come home. Nina was like, you could’ve done that.
Well, tomorrow, I have a doctor’s appointment with a Speech Language Pathologist in Minneapolis (about 45 minutes), so I will be renting a car in the morning and dropping it off the following day. It will be nice that I don’t have to rush home for Niko’s school pickup, and I can stop for breakfast and lunch somewhere (which I am planning on doing). I actually have a few places bookmarked in my brain for my eats!
Why am I seeing a SLP doctor? In May of 2006, I was diagnosed with a voice condition called Abductor Spasmodic Dysphonia, and I want to establish a new routine for speech therapy and Botox injections for myself. I did have an appointment in February scheduled for this, but it was at the Mayo Clinic in Rochester (about two hours) and it was winter in Minnesota (cold and snowy), so I canceled.
