Ain’t Nobody’s Fool: The Life and Times of Dolly Parton – by Martha Ackmann

Posted on 09/01/202503/27/2026 by Mark Lieberman

I got this book from Netgalley so I can read and review it before it’s published. I just happen to stumble on this book while I was browsing on Netgalley, and I was interested. I mean, I knew a little about her and wanted to learn more. I am not a fan of her music, but that doesn’t matter.

Unlike other musicians memoirs, I have read, this was one was a very quick and easy read. It dove into her family, her childhood, her rise to fame, her marriage, her career in music and television, and her generous philanthropy. It did dive into a few of her hit songs, but not every song and every detail.

I want thank her for her $1 million dollar donation to research at Vanderbilt University which helped kickstart the Moderna Covid-19 vaccine and for her kindness in the Imagination Library which provides free books to children.

What an amazing woman she is who started from being poor to where she is now. What a great role model to everybody.
