Nina and I haven’t had a “real” vacation since we cruised the Western Caribbean in November of 2015. We had a cruise scheduled for October of 2020 to celebrate our 10-year wedding anniversary, but it got canceled due to the pandemic. We did get a future cruise credit and will use that for a cruise for next year for some time in the 4th quarter.
We just booked a trip for February to visit Nina’s dad and stepmom who live in Ohio. We may even get to see Nina’s brother and his wife and Nina’s stepbrother and his wife; that would be nice.
One of the main reasons why we are planning a vacation is because Nina and I are vaccinated as we had our boosters in October and November and now and finally, so is Niko. All three of us are looking forward to getting out of the house to places where we have been missing since March of last year; we have a list and every day that list keeps getting longer. It will also be nice that when do go out, we can go without a mask and feel safer around people. We will bring masks if some places require them. Nina will probably take Niko out once or twice throughout the weekdays and I will take him out once on the weekends. We don’t want to overwhelm him yet!
My wife is already making up lists of stuff we need; well, let me rephrase that. Mainly, things that we need to bring for Niko. It will also be Niko’s first time in an airplane and staying over at somebody else’s house. We already called dibs on the basement bedroom!
Nina told me it will be very cold, and it may snow, so make sure you have adequate clothes! So, with that being said by my wise wife, I took an inventory…
I have plenty of long sleeve shirts.
I have two pair of warm knit socks and my old thick bombas work socks.
I only have one pair of blue jeans, so I purchased another pair a few days ago.
I have a heavy winter jacket. I have gloves. I have two warm beanies.
I purchased a pair of waterproof shoes. So, I can have those, my walking sneakers, and my flip flops to wear around their house.
Besides all this, I need my electronics and chargers and my Bluetooth wireless headphones. I wonder what book or books I will be reading by then on my iPad.
I am looking forward to getting away for a few days and will take some notes in my notepad so I can publish more stuff later. That’s what I did when Niko was born.
