The Dad’s Library

Obviously, I love to write as I have been doing it publicly since 2011. It just comes so easy for me and once I get going, I am hard to stop.

But, when I am not writing about writing, I love to read books. The books I choose are mainly autobiographies or biographies of people. I have just started to read some non fiction as well, like Dave Barry, Carl Hiaasen, and Anthony Bourdain.

Sometimes, when I am reading, I often go down a book cliff and find other people related to that particular book I am reading.

For example, I read all 9 non fiction books in the Tales of the City series by Armistead Maupin. After I completed them all, I read his autobiography and also watched a Netflix documentary about him as well. Then after that book, I read the autobiography of Rock Hudson (Armistead had a brief fling with him).

A few weeks ago, I finished a book by Charles Wheelan called WE CAME, WE SAW, WE LEFT. It was about a family gap year in 2016 where Charles, his wife, and there children traveled around the world. While he was traveling, he was also writing a non fiction book called The Rationing, which I read after I finished his travel book. It was published in 2019 and was about a pandemic, a drug that can cure it, and how to ration the drug if the supply was limited. It was a really interesting read and something about it felt really familiar.

Now, I am reading the autobiography of Alan Zweibel, a comedy writer who wrote for Saturday Night Live when it premiered and already in my next books to read are books about Saturday Night Live, a few autobiographies of SNL stars from the late 90’s, and a book about the Brill Building (Alan had an office in that historical building).
