April/may vs august/September/October/November/december

Posted on 04/27/201603/13/2026 by Mark Lieberman
My son will be an April (we only have 3 days left this month — HOLY CRAP) or a May baby.  I am glad because it won’t interfere with High School football which starts the last week in August and ends the week before Christmas.   In case you didn’t know, I am a statistician, writer, and photographer for high school football games.  In the past, I told Nina that football season is totally off limits for having a baby and I meant it!!  I didn’t really mean it folks, that is my sense of humor taking control of the situation.  Had it happened, I would’ve taken several weeks off (although, I probably would be counting all sorts of fun things in the labor and delivery room).

Hey, when it came to naming the baby, I was OK on not naming him: Judson, Smithson, Johnson, Foot, Ball, Football, Brennan, Jersey, Punt, Run, Pass, Touchdown, Turf, Yard, Flag, Press, Box, Press-Box, or anything else related to a school name or a football term.  You get the picture?   No, his name won’t be ESPN or Spur either.

No matter what date he is born, it will be fun to know that when my birthday ends, we can celebrate his!!!   But, we will probably celebrate his everyday as his are much more important than mine.  Wait, let me rephrase that…next year, I will be 40 and he will be 1.  Mine is a milestone.  Wait, so his is.  Oh well!!
