High School Football – PLAYOFFS

Posted on 11/12/201211/04/2025 by Mark
Wow, we are finally done with the regular season and what an amazing season it was!!!  Now, comes 6 weeks of playoff madness and I can’t wait!!!  You can see all the playoff brackets here.

I am not going to do any playoff predictions, but I am gonna tell you who my favorite teams and players are in the playoffs in no particular order!!!  Let’s hope that one of these teams can make it to Cowboys stadium for the state championship.

Please remember that I have not seen every team play this season and the list below is based on all the games I have worked.  So, if your favorite team isn’t listed, please comment in this blog and tell me who your favorite teams and players are.  Thanks.

Steele Knights
Justin Stockton

Brandeis Broncos
Trinton Ynclan

O’Connor Panthers
Tre Johnson
Zach Galindo
Billy Craft
Baylen Brown
Luke Farmer
Daniel Stauzenberger

Judson Rockets
Jarveon Williams
Malik Pryor
Tre Flowers

East Central Hornets
Chris Armstrong
Johnathan Jackson
Javion Polk
Caid Franckowiak

Madison Mavericks
Marquis Warford
Galen McAllister
Vincent Taylor

Smithson Valley Rangers
Lawrence Mattison

Pleasanton Eagles
Luke Walters
Jacob Jandt
Mike Sirola

Brennan Bears
DeShawn Key
Nathaniel Wells
Makai Green
Dillon Gatian

Wagner Thunderbirds
Robbie Gardner

One team I expected to make the playoffs and they didn’t were the Warren Warriors.  There wide receiver, Aron Taylor, has committed to play for the UTSA Roadrunners.

One player that I really enjoyed watching the past 3 seasons and unfortunately his team didn’t make the playoffs was Josh Reynolds, a 6’3 wide receiver and safety for the Jay Mustangs.  I am fairly confident he will be playing somewhere on Saturday’s.

I think the most exciting match-up in the first round of the playoffs is Madison and Wagner on Friday night at Rutledge stadium.   I was really concerned about Wagner after a horrible loss to Monterrey Tech in Week 4 and then being shut-out by Judson in Week 6, but they won the right games in district.  Wagner is a fast team…I wouldn’t be surprised if Wagner upset the Madison Mavericks.

The Steele and Marshall game on Friday night at the Dome could get really ugly…ugly as in a lopsided win for Steele.  Steele is 10 and 0 and has played in 2 consecutive state championships and Marshall struggled all season and barely made the playoffs.

The game everyone wants to see down the road in the playoffs is Steele and Smithson Valley..if this happens, both teams will be undefeated and it will be one heck of a game. I am glancing at the brackets and if this happens, it will be Week 14 for the state quarterfinals and I will be back from my vacation, sweet!!!  Please don’t make me pick a winner?  I will let Lorne and Blake from the Express News do that!!!

Right now, it looks like I will be sleeping at the Alamodome on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Thursday is Steele VS Marshall. Friday is Smithson Valley VS Reagan.  Saturday is Judson VS Churchill and O’Connor VS Southwest.  I will have my article for the Week 11 games published on Sunday.

If my games change, I will update my High School football schedule page and my Facebook status.
