On Saturday, we took Niko to The Shops at La Cantera; which according to Wikipedia, “is an upscale open-air regional shopping mall in San Antonio.” I know that, but you probably don’t. When we take him out, we carry him because we don’t like strapping him in a stroller; especially after he has been strapped in the car seat.
We did bring the stroller with us; just in case we needed it, but we also put his shoes on when we arrived. He isn’t yet at the age where he can walk freely with us, so I held his hand and holy crap, he didn’t object! It was really nice for me and he knew he was safe with me; he likes me! Niko doesn’t usually hold hands with Nina; I don’t know why, but she will try doing it more at home in the hopes that he can do it. He enjoyed being out, seeing people and babies, and when he asked to be picked up, 4 adults were happy to oblige; we met my parents at the mall. Most of the time, I invite my parents to join us for baby adventures and no matter what we do; and most of the time, they are happy to come along. I enjoy it because it gives us some freedom!
The stroller was used to carry Niko’s lunch, Nina’s purse, a jacket Nina purchased from The Gap, leftovers from PF Changs, and 2 pretzels from Auntie Anne’s for our drive home.
We all had a pleasant time even though it was hot outside. There are several indoor shopping malls in San Antonio that we can visit and we are actually planning on doing it in the next few weeks; probably for Nina’s birthday in two weeks.
The only downside to this is when we take him into San Antonio, we have to rely on him taking both naps in the car and he just doesn’t sleep as long as he does in the crib at home. I mean, on Saturday, he slept for about 45 minutes in the morning and on the drive home, he didn’t sleep at all.
Any time being with family is a great time. We had a wonderful time as always with Niko.
