We accepted an offer for our house a few days before Thanksgiving and moved last Monday to less than a mile away in the same neighborhood. I have to give a lot of thanks to Nina as she did 99.9% of the packing.
We are leasing till the end of the school year as Niko is really enjoying his teacher and school activities. We didn’t want to interrupt that. A few months before the lease is up, we will figure out our next move, wherever it may be.
Now, let me tell you what else happened…
A few days before Veteran’s Day, Nina had a cold. Niko had it on Veteran’s Day and missed a few days that week. We forced him, though, to go to his recital on Veteran’s Day morning, and then we took him home. The week before Thanksgiving, Niko still wasn’t cured. On that Wednesday, I got it and was napping in the morning as I felt like crud! Nina was out in the world at a separate non related doctor’s appointment, and tried calling me a few times to inform me to pick up Niko early from school. My ringer is set to vibrate, and I heard it on my night-table buzzing. I picked up and the first thing I asked was if she was OK. She was, thank goodness, but she informed me to pick up Niko from school as he is sick. That afternoon, the buyers scheduled their inspection. So, we had two sick boys and we had to be out and do stuff and it wasn’t fun. Niko did go to an urgent care clinic the following day, and nothing bad, but they did give him antibiotics. We crushed his pills and mixed with pudding, and he took it with only a few complaints.
On the Monday after Thanksgiving, Niko was complaining of his eye hurting. Dr. Mom and Dr. Dad didn’t see anything. After several minutes of us convincing him to take eye drops, he finally did it, and after a few drops, he was a pro. On Tuesday, it was worse so Nina took him to a close-by ophthalmologist who said he has a scratch on his eye and recommended him to see a specialist that afternoon. I took him to that specialist, and he did indeed have a scratch on his eye (I got to see it), so he was prescribed eye drops. On Wednesday, he went back to school with normal eye drops and I told his teacher that he may need help aiming!
On Thursday, I woke up in the late morning in extreme pain. I was scared and cried. After Nina and Niko woke up, I went to a 24/7 urgent care emergency clinic. I was then transported by an ambulance to a hospital where I had emergency surgery that afternoon followed by another one on Friday morning. I was discharged on Saturday, and am already doing better. I have rehab starting next month.
