Last Saturday, we had a hangry boy! If you don’t know what that means, I will explain. It’s when Niko is hungry and angry, and he can’t make his mind up for what he wants to do. Don’t worry, I will explain further.
We went to P.F. Changs for lunch and Niko wanted no part of it and he even told us that he hates noodles and is noodled out! Nina waited patiently in the restaurant, while I tried to get him to go in. Notice, how I said I tried, as nothing worked. I was getting hangry as well, as I was hungry and wanted to sit down inside and throw a lot of Chinese food down my throat. I was even reviewing the menu before-hand so I can be more prepared (I do that a lot for research). Don’t judge me! I even do that at fast food drive throughs as I will pull into the parking lot before I get in the line! Don’t judge me!
I even asked Niko what he wanted and provided him the eating options (of which, there were not any other options as I didn’t want The Cheesecake Factory, a pizza, or anything at Kona Grill). It’s funny because the Factory is always packed unless you arrive when they open, the pizza place that Niko likes is OK, but we always order the same thing (large half cheese and half pepperoni pizza, garlic bread and a strawberry lemonade), and the Grill is expensive and not great (unless you order a burger which Niko did a few weeks prior and he also wanted to try Sushi, which was OK as I tried a piece as well). The Sushi we tried as I believe was Tuna as it was plain and a good thing to try for us.
So, what happened and how did we fix it? Well, I have a smart wife! She exited P. F. Changs and walked briskly with Niko and I in tow and stood in line at a pretzel stand where she ordered two pretzels (one for Niko and one for us to share) and a lemonade for him. After a few bites, we got our Niko back as he was happy and making yummy noises at his food (just like I do). Finally, an hour later, we were back at P.F. Changs and Niko examined the menu and wanted noodles. Man, when he ordered noodles, I laughed and put my hands on face and stood up at the table as I was pretending to walk out! I also had noodles, and ordered dumplings as an appetizer. Guess who ate most of them? Yes, Niko scarfed down 4 of them, and I only got 2!
Nina tells me that I make a hungry face, and I am never aware of it. But, when she sees it, most of the time, it’s correct! I like to eat.
Oftentimes, when she goes out on her own, she comes back with a Starbucks drink, and when I go out by myself, I come back with food.
