If you do the math, you will know that it happened a few weeks before the 2015 High School football season started. As I tell people, once High School football starts, my wife becomes a “football widow” and I won’t see her till Christmas. So, in essence it was all great timing!!!
When Nina showed me the results from the many many pee tests she took to deny or confirm being pregnant, I had to do a double-take, because I was half asleep and I had absolutely no clue what she was showing me. I probably had the calmest reaction ever in the history of wives telling their husbands, HEY, I AM PREGNANT!!! Yeah, I was definitely excited for us and also terrified at the same time, but I know once Oscar is born, the terrified gene in me will disappear. Yes, folks, Oscar is our name for the little one, but that isn’t his real name!! In the days afterwards, Nina kept taking pee tests just to confirm she wasn’t crazy!!!
In Week 8 of Nina’s pregnancy, we got to the see the heart beating of a very very very tiny Oscar. That is when I got a bit teary eyed. I haven’t cried in front of her yet and I know it will happen when we see Oscar!!! We were both so happy and we had a picture of Oscar from the Sonogram. HOLY CRAP!!! WE ARE GOING TO BE PARENTS!!! I HAVE A LOT TO LEARN!!! HELP ME!!!
One of the hardest things for me was not telling anybody until the proper time. I have known since August 30th. You don’t know how many times I wanted to blurt it out!!! I lied to a lot of people with a straight face – and I apologize! Our parents and brothers knew the first week of October. And, now the entire universe knows.
