As I started writing this, it was looking like a TV series, so I decided to scratch everything I had written and try my best to keep it to a 30-second commercial!
Our A/C was out, and eventually, we ended up with a whole new system! They replaced it on Thursday, May 23rd, and by Friday morning, it had already cooled to our standards. I wasn’t happy with the price, but it’s a necessity of life. I also wasn’t happy that I shelled out more money on May 10th for another fix.
Last Saturday, May 18th, Niko and I stayed in a hotel, and Nina chose to stay home with the kitten. During our adventures in the hot world, we got Niko two pairs of sneakers from Sketchers. He enjoyed the experience of trying on shoes in person. Previously, we would order them online and he would immediately reject them. Nina even customized a pair of Converse for him, and he saw them and was helping her design them. Well, total failure when they arrived and luckily, we were able to return them for a refund. Oh, at Sketchers, they had a popcorn machine and of course, I asked about it, and both Niko and I got a bag of popcorn. There was another gentleman there with his wife and son, and his name was Nikolai. At lunch later on, our waiter’s name was Marcus. All we had to do was find a Nina somewhere, but that didn’t happen. Before we went to the hotel, Niko and I went to the pool, and I must admit, that the water temperature was perfect for a hot day in the house as well as outside.
On Sunday, the three of us stayed in another hotel. The kitten had several bowls of water throughout the house, we also left a few windows slightly open for a breeze, and we had all the fans running on high.
At both hotels, Niko really enjoyed the complimentary breakfasts.
On Monday, I waited and sweated at home for the technician to come. Nina stayed home till it got unbearable, and then she bolted to the outside world to a book store. She came home just as the technician was leaving. A few minutes before Nina picked Niko up from school, we had decided to leave the house and I would come back for the install on Thursday. We threw a lot of stuff in Nina’s car for all of us; even the cat and all of his supplies. We picked Niko up, and told him we are going to my parent’s house till the A/C is fixed and no school as well! He was surprised, and happy! I have to give a lot of thanks to my mom and dad, as they took care of all of us!
On Thursday, my dad drove me home in the morning, and the techs arrived shortly after. It took them nearly 6 hours to complete the install of the new system. I provided them with cold water and bathrooms, and when they left, I gave them $40 to get a cold drink and a nice lunch somewhere.
This is Niko’s note along with a short story he wrote from the hotel on Saturday night:
