On Thursday, the three of us spent the night at my parent’s house because our air conditioning was being fixed. I was going to setup a Kickstarter campaign to help pay for it, but it ended up being less than what they had originally quoted us. And, no worries, it is nice and cold now.
While I was work that day, my wife worked really hard to gather everything up for us. I was impressed, but that is a given; she is an awesome wife and mom and doesn’t get enough thanks for what she does on a daily basis. I always try to spoil her and sometimes she allows it.
She gathered clothes for us; I was totally prepared to wear the same clothes from Thursday for Friday and my co-workers would just have to deal with it; they know I have a baby. She even got my toothbrush, toothpaste, hairbrush, and deodorant for me. The one thing she didn’t bring because Niko grabbed it on the way down the stairs and threw it on the floor was a t-shirt for me to sleep in. I could’ve easily gone to my car and grabbed one of my spare t-shirts to sleep in, but I was lazy. So, I slept in my boxers only and I know Nina liked it because were closer together than on our king sized bed at home.
She gathered all the medications for us; trust me, it is a lot! And, they are in different locations.
She brought goat milk and a mixture of avocado, banana, and yogurt all blended together to make a nice cold ice cream, bibs, baby utensils, and extra clothes; even sleeping clothes for Niko.
She took some of his favorite toys and even purchased a new one earlier in the day.
She put the large stroller and the pack and play in the car.
Oh, did I mention she did this with no air conditioning, a meowing cat, and a cranky baby? Franklin cat was OK as she made sure he had several thing of cold water to drink.
Niko had a wonderful time exploring and playing with his grandparents. They watched him while Nina and I sat down at the dining room table and had dinner; usually, we eat standing up in our kitchen, in our bedroom, or on the sofa while the other spouse plays with Niko in the living room. We were planning on having Niko sleep in the pack and play with us in my old bedroom, but at the last minute, I moved the pack and play to another bedroom and we didn’t hear a peep out of him all night long; Nina and I woke him up around 6:45 am.
On Friday, Nina didn’t leave immediately; she napped him there, got lunch out with my parents; I was mad because it was Chinese, they went to an estate sale, and Nina was able to relax a little bit and do nothing; which I am glad. She needs to do that more, but I know it’s hard because she works.
