On December 7th, I got a new iPad 10th Generation. The one I had was a hand-me-down iPad 7th Generation from Nina and Niko. Nina had it first, and then she gave it to Niko when she got a new one a few years ago.
Before I go on, let me tell you about my research and the fact that Nina made fun of me! It wasn’t just which one to get, but do I need it? You don’t know how many times I compared different iPad’s on the Apple website. Should I get a new one or the prior model? Should I get a new one or a refurbished one? Once I finally made up my mind on which one to get, I then had to compare prices between Apple and Amazon. Amazon was a bit cheaper, so I ordered it through them. Had I realized that Amazon’s delivery time would be more than a week, I would’ve purchased it elsewhere. After waiting patiently for a week, I canceled the Amazon order and decided to visit Best Buy during my lunch break to get it. Well, Best Buy didn’t have the one I wanted in stock and I didn’t want to wait a few more days for a delivery. I was disappointed when I got home and just figured, well, it wasn’t meant to happen. I will hold off and work with my current iPad and laptop for a little while. Then, a few hours later, I did it! I went to the Apple store online, ordered it, and it was delivered the next day!
My first iPad was a Mini in 2020. The iPad 7th Generation, which now was Niko’s, was dropped and the screen broke. So, I did what any parent would do and that is, I gave Niko the iPad Mini, which he still has today and he really likes the size, storage capacity, and battery of it. And, poor dad was left without an iPad. I eventually got it fixed, but that took a few months as it wasn’t something I had to do immediately.
One of the main reasons why I upgraded is I wan’t to use it instead of my laptop. And, just within the past few weeks, I moved our iMac downstairs and have been using that to do things that I would normally do on my laptop in the evenings. I have a desk and comfy chair instead of being uncomfortable on the sofa with my laptop on my lap desk on my lap. I actually haven’t touched my laptop since December 3rd. I wish I could sell it for a few bucks, but the offers I have are not even worth it. I mean, it’s not like a super old laptop. It’s an HP from 2020 and it has a backlit keyboard. I don’t even know if Niko would use it as he uses a touchscreen Chromebook at school. When he does use it, which isn’t often, he touches the monitor and I have remind him, it’s not a touchscreen. I did tell him, that if he would like us to start pricing touchscreen Chromebook’s, we can do that. So, maybe I should just sell it for a few bucks and not have it sitting idle in the bedroom.
I have been enjoying watching movies and television shows on my iPad in the evenings. We have so many streaming services available and it’s hard to pick something that looks halfway interesting.
Now, I have mentioned before that I have a very short attention span in the evenings as I have a lot of stuff that needs to be completed before I can indulge.
I can sometimes continue to watch something for a few minutes on the television upstairs while Niko is in the bathroom. Then, as soon as I hear the flush, off goes the television.
I still write as you are obviously reading this and I still read throughout the day. That will never stop for me as I am passionate about both and really enjoy it.
Here are the movies/television shows I have watched:
Good Burger 2
Blue Beetle – I watched it twice (once alone, and once with Nina and Niko).
Finch
Barbie – I watched it twice (once alone, and once with Nina and Niko, but Niko wasn’t really paying attention. He was playing video games and popped his head up a few times to ask what’s happening and where is America Ferrera as he likes and knows her from Ugly Betty.)
Ted Lasso – I just completed season 1.
