On Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Monday, I was the first person awake in our house. That means that Niko didn’t wake us up, But, that also meant I had to be very quiet leaving the bedroom and in the bathroom.
So, for the bathroom, I did everything in the dark as I only had my phone flashlight. I am glad nobody has noticed deodorant on my hair, toothpaste on my armpits, and lipstick all over my face. At least I put my clothes on and not my wife’s; not like there is anything wrong with that.
While I am in the bathroom and even when I get downstairs, I am watching Niko on the camera to make sure he is still sleeping. I do see him toss and turn and open his eyes, but he goes back to sleep.
If this was happening and he was still in our bedroom, just the sound of me getting the blanket off of me or even me turning my alarm off on my Gear Fit 2 would likely wake him up.
Over the weekend, Niko was the 1st to get up and that happened both days a few minutes before 7am. Now as I mentioned before, when he is awake, we are awake. I always take him downstairs so Nina can get a few more minutes of sleep. One reason why I do that is Nina doesn’t nap because it will affect her nighttime sleep; whereas I can nap during the day without interfering with my nighttime sleep.
Before Wednesday, he was waking up around 5 or 6am. I would get him from the crib and give him to mom for breastfeeding. He eats and dozes off for about an hour or so with mom.
The biggest downside to him sleeping while I am awake and getting ready for work is I don’t get to see his smiling face in the morning; at least he is sleeping thru the night. I still get to play with him when I come home from work, feed him his dinner, take his clothes off in preparation for his bath with mom, dry him off, dress him in super cute footed pajamas, pass him to mom; not like I throw him to her, watch him eat and play with mom boobs, and when he is done, I get the best job in the world and that is I put him in the crib for nighttime while I sing to him. Then, I walk 10 steps to our bedroom and watch him fall asleep on the camera. It’s a great job!
On Monday night I gathered everything I needed for the morning and put it in our downstairs bathroom so when I wake-up, all I have to do is quietly open and close our bedroom door and tiptoe down the stairs; which I don’t mind. If this helps Niko sleep a little bit longer, I am all for it.
Now let me tell you that when I step on something; usually a toy, I scream softly out loud. Toys are everywhere. I am very confident that if you looked on our porch, you’d find toys. Sometimes, my shriek is a curse word which I am trying to stop.
Well, folks, I am a premature writer because Niko woke up at 1:30 in the morning on Tuesday. Even though we can hear him in our bedroom, we have an audio monitor that buzzes when he makes a noise. Most of the time, he his just getting into a different sleeping position. On this particular buzz, I heard him and I woke up immediately and turned on the camera to see what he was doing. He was trying to go back to sleep, but the crying was consistent and he just couldn’t will himself to sleep. Did his pain medicine wear off? Was he hungry? Probably yes to both.
After 10 minutes, I rescued him and we gave him medicine for his teething and food from momma. I tried to put him back in the crib afterwards, but Niko wanted no part of that; so, he slept in my left armpit; which I really like, but I don’t sleep as well.
A few minutes before 6 and after Nina came back from the bathroom, I gave custody of a sleeping baby to Nina and I grabbed my laptop and some dirty dishes and went downstairs to do my stuff.
Hopefully tomorrow morning, I will be the first to wake-up.
The only part I don’t like is your singing? You sing?
