Last Monday, I started a new job at Health Equity as a Treasury Manager, Unclaimed Property. Everybody I have met so far, has been absolutely amazing and welcoming. All is good in my world, and I am excited to start this new chapter in my life.
Last Sunday, and on a whim, since it was cooler outside, the three of us went to La Cantera Mall. I know I talk about La Cantera a lot, but it’s a great outdoor place with fun shops and food that we all enjoy. We got pizza, Legos from the Lego store (we even got a Lego advent calendar for Niko), nice smelly cologne for me from Macy’s, chocolate from Lolli and Pops, and some hand cream for Nina from a store I can’t pronounce. It was funny that day because Niko didn’t want to go out, and I know from past experiences to just leave him alone when that happens instead of asking over and over and over. I have to thank Nina as she just got up and got dressed and said she was going out. Niko looked at me and then asked where mom is going? When I answered La Cantera, he all of a sudden wanted to go and got up and got dressed. Finally, it was my turn to get up and get dressed. And, off we went. While we were eating pizza, he was so happy and extra super talky!
To celebrate my new job and also our 13th wedding anniversary, which was last Tuesday (October 10th), we had an eclipse viewing party with us and my parents, and then we had lunch at Longhorn Steakhouse.
It was actually really neat to see the “ring of fire” around the sun. Nina purchased our eclipse glasses a few weeks ago, so we were ready. Unlike several families in our neighborhood, who were asking our Facebook page for extras!
Nina took a picture of my dad and I, and we are in the exact same pose – like father, like son. Niko enjoyed it as well as he kept finding new places to view it in the backyard! We will have a total eclipse in April, and I hope that that school will allow parents to view it with their kids.
As for lunch, I knew I wanted a steak, and Longhorn Steakhouse was a perfect choice. My steak was cooked to perfection, the steakhouse Mac and Cheese was delicious, the tortilla soup was ok (I ate it all, but I probably should’ve gotten the lobster and shrimp chowder, the fried shrimp appetizer was cooked exceptionally well, and the chocolate cake for desert was huge, and the five us ate it all (yes, it was that big). As for Niko, he said everything he ate and drank was the best! I think we will be going back for more food, but not today!
