Last Saturday morning, I mowed the backyard. I enjoy mowing the yard, and always take great pride in my work! We don’t have a huge yard, as the front takes me about 15 minutes and the back is a bit longer, as I do have to move some stuff around.
Even though it wasn’t hot yet, I still sweated profusely and when I finished, I took a very nice cold shower. After my shower, Niko asked to go to the pool and I was like, lovebug (yes, that is one of the many cutesy nicknames I have for him), I just took a shower and am sparkly clean, let’s plan to go swimming tomorrow. Fortunately, he was cool with that reply. I do try to get him out of the house on Saturday’s, but I knew he was tired as he is still getting back on the school groove. So, we just hung home and relaxed. Around lunch, I really wanted fast food, but not like a hamburger from one of the million chain restaurants a few miles down the road. No, I wanted fajita tacos and the place I know of close to where we are is called Taco Cabana. They have a combo meal with two tacos, a drink, and chips and queso and to me, it’s yummy. I always tend to eat the chips in the car on the way home, so lately, when I go there, I order two combo meals. I use the queso to dunk chips and my tacos, and whatever I have leftover, I use it in my eggs the following morning. Of course, Niko places his order with me for Taco Cabana and that is a chicken quesadilla! Nina orders nothing as she doesn’t care for it. There are a few other taco joints near us, and I know I if went to one called Las Palapas, I can get her a chicken fajita taco with avocado. I do like Las Palapas (especially, there bacon and egg breakfast tacos), but it’s a bit more expensive than Taco Cabana. Oh, even though there is a Taco Cabana just a few miles from me, I went to another location a few miles further as I knew there was a Discount Tire next door, and I needed to have them check my tires as the check tire pressure alert has been going on in my car. So, I got two things done. When I left, I told Nina, I would be back in 30, but it ended up being more like an hour. When I texted Nina, she was like, is your car OK. I was like, yes, just needed air!
On Saturday’s, a Mister Softee ice cream truck comes to our neighborhood, and Niko and I have the app so we can track the truck and run outside as soon as it’s in front of our house. Sometimes, though, we do miss it, but on this day, I made it out and she saw me and stopped. I got a chocolate shake for Niko and a strawberry one for me, and Nina wanted an empty cup of nothing with extra scoops of invisible! See, I always offer to get Nina something.
So, on Sunday morning and since the lawns were freshly manicured, Niko and I went to the pool, and we had it all to ourselves. While we were in the pool, and let me tell you, the water was a perfect temperature, I told him I was craving chicken tenders. He then told me, he was also craving chicken tenders. Now, at 9 am, where would one even get chicken tenders? See, those are my life dilemma’s. Usually, after we get done swimming, we go to CVS down the street and get junk food, and I know they have frozen chicken tenders which aren’t great, but I would’ve gotten them anyway. Well, he didn’t want CVS, he was tired and ready to go home. When we got home, I went to thinking mode! I knew a new place for chicken tenders but couldn’t for the life of me remember the name. When I finally found it, I looked at the menu, and it looked good, but I didn’t feel like driving to it as it was farther than I wanted to drive. So, I went to Zaxby’s which was close to where we live. I have only had the chicken tenders there once, and they were OK. I ended up ordering chicken tenders and fries for Niko and me, and Nina just wanted a diet coke with no ice. I even ordered us a small funnel cake with caramel sauce (it was OK). The chicken tenders were OK. I mean, we ate them all, but I think Niko’s best part was a special sauce that he used for his fries and chicken tenders. Maybe next time, I am craving chicken tenders, I will try the other place!
Two days ago, or Friday, Niko got out of school early as he had a dentist appointment. He already knew that afterwards, he and Nina would get burgers, fries, and a shake from Freddy’s. They did have to run a quick errand at the UPS store, and in that same small shopping center was a Subway. Now, Niko has never had Subway, but he is aware of it. One of the channel’s he follows on YouTube Kids is somebody who used to work at one, and now he has his own ice cream store. The videos he shoots are actually pretty cool as you get to hear him and see his hands during magical food work. So, of course, they went to Subway and got a sandwich (number 30 as Niko told me when they got home). I heard a rumor that he ate most of it before they arrived at Freddy’s! And another rumor I heard, was he gulped his shake all the way down before they even left Freddy’s!
Hey, I am glad that when they did come home, I had a small bit of his Subway sandwich, along with a burger, fries, and a drink. As much as I do like Freddy’s (even their chicken tenders are better than Zaxby’s), I will say that the best thing I ate was definitely the Subway sandwich. I am a big fan of places like Subway, as I like my sandwiches plain and simple. But what he ordered was perfect for me: pepperoni, salami, turkey, ham, roast beef, and provolone cheese! That may be my go-to sandwich next time we visit Subway and I know there will be a next time, as Niko was so happy in the restaurant that I heard another rumor that he was doing a happy dance inside. On Saturday for lunch, Niko and I had leftover burgers and fries. Nina ordered herself a plain burger, whereas Niko and I get ours with cheese. Well, all three burgers had cheese, so Nina didn’t get one. The last few times I have gotten food at Freddy’s, I check the order before I leave. One time, they messed up two of our three burgers and I was still there, so I called them up and told them and they made it right. We ended up with FIVE burgers!
All the rumors above are TRUE as I get it first-hand from Nina! With pictures as proof!
I am done writing as all these food words are making me hungry. I wonder what I will eat!
Lastly, don’t judge me on the food Niko and I eat. He does know when he is full, and I also always tell him he has no obligation to eat everything. And me, well, I like to eat…who doesn’t?
