Last Friday, I had a colonoscopy, and everything turned out fine. I won’t bore you with the details, although I did write some stuff down, but I won’t be publishing it. If you do have questions, contact me and I will be glad to answer them.
If you look at the weather for Texas, you will see triple digit temperatures. At home, we have been keeping our blinds closed and a very minimum of opening and closing doors to the outside and the garage. Our a/c is working overtime to keep us cool as well as fans. When we moved into our house, one of the first things we did was purchase fans and had a neighbor electrician install them. The a/c in our cars works very well, and most of the time, we have to keep it at full blast for the entire drive. Last year, though, my car a/c wasn’t getting cool, and I had to deal with that for several weeks until I finally said enough and took it to a local Valvoline where they fixed me up; best money spent that summer.
Yes, Niko is still wearing pants and long sleeve shirts. A few weeks ago, Nina purchased some very thin pants and shirts from Old Navy, and he wears them, so that is good. Yesterday when Niko went out, he had two long sleeve shirts he wanted to wear; one was a button-down and the other one was a regular long sleeve shirt. I put the gauntlet down and said nope. I was like your options are either the regular long sleeve shirt only or the button-down shirt with a short sleeve shirt (oh my gosh, I spelled that word wrong, but it got caught). Yes, he does have 2 or 3 short sleeve shirts. Well, he chose the short sleeve shirt and button-down shirt. But he ended up buttoning his shirt. I thought he would leave it unbuttoned, like I do. He told us he didn’t want anybody to know he liked Mario, as in Super Mario Bros!
The following Saturday, Niko and I went to the neighborhood pool. The water was a perfect temperature, and it was very nice to be in a pool when the temperature is a billion degrees. He is so tall, that he was standing in all of the areas of the pool. He had a blast standing on one of the steps and jumping into my arms. A few of those times, I got distracted by him because he was like, dad, look over there and he would jump on my back or on my side. Why do I always fall for the trick? Afterwards, we took a short drive for smoothies from Jamba Juice. Yeah, I even got one even though I am a not huge fan of them. That evening, while Niko was about to start making another smoothie at home, I heard the Mr. Softee ice cream truck, and I told Niko to put his shoes on quick. Luckily, the driver and I caught eyes as Niko and I were running out of the house.
On Sunday, Niko and I had breakfast out. I offered JIMS and IHOP, but he really wanted Max & Louies. So, I obliged. He had chocolate chunk pancakes with sausage, and I had an omelet with cheese, bacon, sausage, and ham. He ended up drinking my chocolate milk and his orange juice (both together for a few sips). We took most of our food home along with a dozen bagels. I always enjoy eating out with him as we have a wonderful time. Afterwards, he was still eager to be out and unfortunately, being Sunday before Noon, a lot of places to run around safely inside were closed. I think he wanted a toy, so I suggested the grocery store and they had nothing. I suggested CVS and they had nothing either. But at CVS, he did get some treats for himself.
Yesterday, the three of us went out for the first time in a long time. We sold some books at Half Price Books and purchased some more books. Then, we went to The Shops at La Cantera. We go there a lot as it is close to where we live, and there are a lot of stores we like to spend money in – primarily Lolli and Pops, Lucianos, Jamba Juice, Macy’s, Barnes and Noble, and Starbucks. They even have an Apple store, and I always feel so intimidated (so many people and lots of shiny expensive products). Acros the street from it, is Six Flags Fiesta Texas. A few miles in the other direction from our house is Sea World of Texas. We have had season passes in the past but haven’t been back in a few years; way to hot.
Yeah, we got pizza and chocolate! Nothing was purchased from the Apple store (yet)! I want one, but not sure if it should be a MacBook Air or an iPad with that magic keyboard. Currently, I have a HP laptop and a 7th generation iPad Air. My work supplies me with a laptop, so I don’t need as much computing power as I have had in the past. If I am serious, I need to sell my current laptop and transfer all of my data on my backup external hard drive to either an sd card or buy some extra space in the cloud or dropbox. I brought my laptop in 2020, right when I started working from home due to the pandemic. I had originally gotten it for school as I needed something other than a Chromebook which I had at that point. Then, I had to use it for work as they never supplied me with anything. But a few years later, work made a new policy and they paid for that laptop I purchased; thankfully, I was able to locate the receipt at that time. Or I can give Niko my current laptop and donate the Chromebook which he uses sometimes. I think he would use my HP laptop more as it’s much more powerful. Or I can just stop thinking about it and continue to use my laptop until it dies. I think a lot about stuff. It’s just how my brain works.
We only have a couple more weekends left before Niko starts school, and I know it will be hard to get him out during the first few weeks of school.
