Niko’s last day of first grade is this coming Thursday. He is off tomorrow, as are Nina and me, for Memorial Day. So, three days left!
I know, he will very likely, be happy to sit on his butt on the upstairs sofa with the television remote and the Switch remote for a at least a week and not do anything outside the house. I call it decompressing! And that is fine with me.
I am super proud of how awesome he has done at school, considering this was his first time. The first day was tough for all of us as he had no clue what to expect nor did we. I did enjoy that we got to walk him to his classroom everyday throughout the school year.
Yeah, he did get sick. ALOT!
Yeah, he had a few mental health days!
Yeah, his teacher left a few weeks into the school year, and he got a first-year teacher, who has been absolutely amazing.
Yeah, he attended a classmates birthday party at Urban Air.
Yeah, he attended a class field trip to the children’s museum and rode in a school bus for the first time.
Yeah, he made some friends. I got the number of one of them and we will definitely be texting them to hang out with Niko, whether that be at the playground, the pool, or somewhere else.
We did have to help him with a few weekend projects, one was a timeline and the other was a float (his, was a Riley cat float).
I also really liked seeing his work as he brings home a huge amount of stuff. Nina and I go through each one-by-one and are amazed at his progress. Last week, he started to bring home some workbooks, and we are looking forward to working some of them.
