IT IS…
MARK LIEBERMAN, DAD!
Because only one person in the world can call me that, and that is the best title I can ever ask for.
I actually had everything written above in a draft since March, should I need something to share when my brain is dry of words!
Well, being that today is Father’s Day, I figured this would be a great time to share this.
So, what does the dad get?
Even though I have a Wishlist in Amazon, I primarily use it for books I want to read so I don’t forget about them. And with Amazon, I can get a free sample and read a few pages to determine if I want to buy it. So, basically, I told Nina no books! In the past, she has gotten me underwear, shirts, and shorts primarily from Cariloha.
I do like clothes, but a few months ago, I sent 25 of my t-shirts that I wore a lot to a company called MemoryStitch who then made me a quilt out of them. It is pretty neat, and yes, I do use it!
Don’t worry, I still have some t-shirts left for sleeping and getting stained (that happens frequently as I have Niko to tend, but also I stain them). One day last week, I put a t-shirt on around 6:30 PM, and when I came downstairs less than 5 minutes later, a magical stain showed up. Where it originated from, I have no clue.
I do have several comfy and thin t-shirts that I hang, and I recently added 5 more from Threads 4 Thought and Lands End. I like the fact that I can even wear them out in the world in the mighty Texas heat.
I know Nina went to Target on Thursday to get me something. I did tell them they don’t have to get me anything as being with them is the best gift ever. One thing she did get was for Niko, and that was a Lego Mario set. I offered to help him put it together, but he did it all on his own (200 pieces). He did get some help from us when he couldn’t find a piece and my help to snap some wheels in place. I then told him how proud I was that he did it all on his own, and I would be happy to buy a monthly set for him. It kept him quiet and occupied for a few hours in the middle of the day.
I definitely am a foodie, as my desire to Nina is to have breakfast tacos from a really good local restaurant for breakfast on Sunday and Chinese food from a local restaurant on Sunday.
Well, on Friday, Niko woke up early and, when he gets up, I am up with him. So, we went for a quick food run for breakfast tacos before I had to start work. It was funny because, at first, he didn’t want to go. He wanted a sad bowl of sad cereal with sad milk! I even offered him my mobile hotspot so he could his iPad. Lately, he has been watching SpongeBob SquarePants. A few minutes later, he wanted to go, and he even wanted happy tacos!
Friday evening, I made us dinner from Hello Fresh. It was hard to cook (and follow the instructions) and feed Niko at the same time, so the white sauce I was supposed to make wasn’t quite up to par. But the jasmine rice and turkey meat came out really good. Niko liked the ground turkey before I put all the seasonings in along with pita bread. This morning, Niko wanted a scrambled eggs in pita bread, and he enjoyed that.
Yesterday, Niko and I had an adventure out in the world. We haven’t done that in a while as he has either been sick, tired, or just wanted to be home. Nina decided to stay home, as she is doing really good in her recuperation, but didn’t want to wear herself out. Niko and I had leftover breakfast tacos in the morning, and then after we finished eating and drinking downstairs, we went upstairs to play Switch Sports. Niko always beats me at all the sports, and we often talk trash to each other while we are golfing or bowling. This morning, he said dad, you need to step-up your game as I kept hitting the golf ball in a bunker! The first time he defeated me in bowling, we made a video, and he was super excited.
I gave Niko two options: the children’s museum or a fancy outdoor shopping mall. I had no preference as I just wanted to make sure Niko had fun.
Well, Niko chose the mall! I bought him a Mario play set from Macy’s, a recycling truck that makes noise from Barnes and Noble, smarties, jellybeans, and chocolate from Lolli and Pops, and an ice cream shake from Marble Slab. Yeah, I spoiled him! For lunch, we had pizza from Luciano’s. Niko and I enjoyed ourselves, but we ready to be done after the shakes. Luckily us, the car was super close to Marble Slab, and we were home in less than 30 minutes.
I do like Luciano’s, but it’s not one of favorites. I mainly eat it because Niko really really really likes it; pepperoni pizza and garlic bread with marinara sauce with a strawberry lemonade.
Today, I will be very happy to do a whole lot of nothing. Laundry doesn’t count, correct? I can just scavenge the house for dirty clothes and throw them in the wash. It’s an easy task that needs to be done as the three of us make a lot of laundry; it never seems to be stop! Yesterday, in the middle of the steamy afternoon, I mowed the front yard (it took me 12 minutes, but I was drenched with sweat), and afterwards I took a super cold shower. Man, it felt good (the shower). I enjoy mowing as it is very satisfying, and after it’s completed, it looks and smells good. The backyard mowing will have to wait to get started till Monday. I am going to order a lot of Chinese food in a few hours, and either Nina or I will pick it up as Niko isn’t of driving age yet! I am already salivating about fried rice, lo mein noodles, and dumplings. And should I get two orders of rice and noodles so I can eat it all week long?
On Monday, I am off so Niko will have three choices to choose: pool, children’s museum, or stay home!
