Niko was off all week. He goes back to school tomorrow.
Nina was also off all week. Nina goes back to work tomorrow.
I was only off one day last week.
So, what did Niko do during Spring Break? Well, he played lots of video games, watched a lot of YouTube, built lots of forts, played one day with Grandma and Grandpa, went to the movies one day with Nina, did lots of drawing, picked up the kitten and put him down 100000 times, and had lots of cuddles with Nina throughout the days. When it was my time with Niko, after I finished work, he was still saying MMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMA! I was like, haven’t you had enough of mom? His answer was NOPE! I think he missed her as a few weeks ago, Nina was sick and in bed. Yeah, Niko was at school, and I was working, but even after I picked him from school, Nina still hung out in the bedroom.
Last Saturday, I picked up Chinese food for all of us from a really good place. Not my usual junk one for noodles that Niko and I like. Nope, I went above and beyond, and it took me about an hour from the time I called it in, to the time I arrived home. But it was worth it.
Last Wednesday, we got new kitchen plates delivered, and Niko was so impressed with them that on Thursday morning, he wanted to have a fancy breakfast at home with the new plates, a tablecloth, and wine cups with orange juice in them instead of going out to IHOP. Nina even made French Toast for us that morning. That was also the one day I was off, and I was eager for IHOP, but sometimes, you have to do what Niko wants to do. After our fancy breakfast, I ran out for a quick errand and when I got home, Nina ran out for a quick errand. Sometimes, it’s just easier for us to do stuff alone. Plus, Niko was happy hanging out on the sofa that day with the television remote and the switch remote. When Niko and I were alone without Nina, I made extra buttery popcorn which we both enjoyed and then we got a small bowl of chocolate.
We had a lot of plastic plates that we used because we have a child, but now he is older, and he can safely use glass plates. So, all those old plastic ones got trashed. Nina was joking around with me that Niko hasn’t broken a glass one yet, even though Nina and I have broken several.
On Friday, Nina and Niko met my parents at IHOP, and I was filled with jealousy. I was like no fair! Yall get to have IHOP, and I am stuck eating homemade breakfast tacos and chocolate milk. Wait, I actually got a good meal as my tacos were tasty and extra cheesy. After IHOP, they went to Barnes and Nobles and a plant store. As soon as the plants arrived in our home, Riley cat was super interested; so, we had to move them so he couldn’t reach them. He tried and failed! I was watching him closely!
I am hoping that either on Saturday or Sunday, I can get him to do something fun with me. I told him we need to get Nina a gift as for the past week and a half, all Niko wants is MMMMMMMMMMMAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMA! Not dad, not Riley kitten, but mom! I can’t blame him, though, as she is awesome!
Well, I don’t want to spoil anything, but on Saturday, it was cold and rainy, and Niko stayed home. I did run out to get some lunch from a local restaurant for Niko and me. I did ask Nina, but she didn’t want fajita tacos, chip and queso, and a quesadilla!
Oh, I also got Mr. Softee for us as Niko heard the sounds of the ice cream truck. How could I say no to him and his sweet happy face on a cold and rainy day? I can’t. They have an app, so we sometimes track them to see where they are. I think it’s pretty cool that almost every Saturday, they drive around our neighborhood and literally drive directly in front of our house. Yeah, convenient. One time, I actually did drive to them in our neighborhood, as we couldn’t wait any longer, and as soon as I got back in my car with shakes and and an ice cream cup, one of the shakes spilled – it was Niko’s chocolate shake, and I felt so bad. There was a small mouthful left, though. I am hoping that I was nice and let him have some of mine, but I don’t remember.
On the first day that we moved in, another ice cream truck drove by, and Nina and I heard it. We stopped in our tracks, grabbed money, and got some nice cold ice cream on a hot day. We didn’t have Niko with us as he was hanging at my parents’ house. We picked him up early in the evening as we needed time alone to get a lot of stuff done. I am pretty sure that the first time Niko got ice cream from either Mr. Softee or another ice cream truck, he was excited and like wow, this is pretty awesome. Now, he kind of expects it every Saturday.
As for today, I am not sure if Niko and I will get out in the world.
