NaMaWriMo 11/15/2022

Posted on 11/15/202204/19/2025 by Mark

My wife told me I need to change NaNoWriMo to NaMaWriMo. National Mark Writing Month, because I am doing my own thing and not following the official rules. Yes, there are official rules along with groups for support all over social media and the internet. I joined one on Facebook, went inside for a few minutes, then ran away and left them. It was just too much for my brain to read and follow. I like simplicity. Maybe I should take a social media break for a little while. Wait, let me rephrase that. Maybe I should I take a Twitter break for a little while.

I have two Twitter handles, and neither does any good for me. On @statmanspeaks, I follow 16 and have 386 followers and on @thedadspeaks, I don’t follow anybody and have 25 followers. Those 386, are mostly high school football or basketball fans, and they liked my writing and photos. Although I haven’t officially retired from sports writing and photography, maybe I should. I rarely Tweet these days, and most of my Twitter feed on @statmanspeaks is sports, and to be honest, I don’t care about sports anymore. Before Niko, yes, I loved sports, but now, I enjoy being with my family and watching things that Niko likes. I get my time in the evenings after he is sleeping, and I use that time to read a book or watch television. It only took me two days to watch the Weird Al movie on the Roku channel. I started watching the Matrix on HBO Plus – I am probably one of the only people in the world who has never seen it. And, since I am a on a television and Twitter rant, I have Niko’s old iPad and I installed our television apps, but no social media or Gmail. I hardly use it but am trying to use it more; I also have a Kindle which I use daily for reading. But maybe I should put the Kindle away and use the iPad to read.

OK, I will tell you why I have Niko’s old iPad, and he got my iPad Mini. He threw his iPad because he was upset, and the screen broke. So, I gave him mine because he uses it daily for YouTube Kids, photos, and music. A few weeks later, I decided to get his iPad fixed and it would be mine. He actually likes the mini better, probably since it is newer, faster, and smaller.

I just took a picture of my Twitter logins and passwords, so I can take a break. Let’s see how long the Twitter break can last. I am doing it folks, as I just removed the apps from iPhone homepage and have deleted the bookmarks on Edge.

Wow, that was a fun rant. I have no clue what I was writing about. Come on Mark, get back on track.

It’s not like I am competing on NaNoWriMo. I am basically doing this for myself. I am thoroughly enjoying writing something every day and yes, it’s a lot of work as most of the time, I have no clue what to write. I had a few blogs in a draft that I was able to finally publish. I have a few fiction stories that I would like to share, but those may have to wait as they will require a lot of editing. Or I can just publish them as is and edit them later.

I will keep on writing something every day, but don’t set your expectations high.

I have been copying each blog from this month into a word document, and it’s currently 34 pages with 9,575 words. I may end up publishing it on Amazon because I can, and the process is easy.

Hi, I am Mark. I started writing in 2011 about high school football, daddy blogging since 2015, and reviewing books since 2023. My writing style is unique, my sense of humor is a little crazy, and I’m not embarrassed to share any of it. You can email me at thedadspeaks@icloud.com.
