On Thursday, I was on a work call and must’ve been really paying attention, because my wife told me something and then left the house. All I heard were Costco and Niko.
I was confused, because Niko gets out of school at 2:50 pm and it was much earlier than that, so I thought she was going to go to Costco and then pick him up a few hours later. Made sense to me. I mean, Costco is a big store, and I know Nina likes to take her time to look at things.
About 15 minutes later, I heard the garage door open, and Niko walked in! I was like, what happened? Nina then told me the school nurse called her because Niko had a fever, and that is an automatic pick me up and take me home. I am glad he went to the nurse instead of being sick and miserable in class all day.
Here we go again with a sick child. He has been sick a lot since school started and has only had one fully healthy week. We knew it would happen, but not this frequent. I feel so bad for him and want to take all of his sickies and transfer them to me.
He is also very stubborn, like me, and it’s a struggle to get him to take medication. Nothing tastes good to him, and Nina and I are like it’s not supposed to taste good. We can easily open up a children’s drug store as we have a lot of flavors and brands available. When he does eventually take something, it takes a long time, and it’s very stressful on us
I did tell him that one of the nice things about him being sick is that we will cater to his needs and do almost anything for him. He has been camping out on the upstairs sofa with pillows and blankets, and we make sure to have lots of snacks and drinks at his reach, so we don’t have to make multiple trips downstairs. He also has his iPad, television remote control, and the Nintendo Switch controller. He is likely to be home again tomorrow and Tuesday.
It’s good that Nina and I work from home, because on Friday we worked upstairs with him. We will do the same tomorrow and Tuesday since are not planning on having him go back to school until Wednesday. For any calls where I need to talk, I can easily transport myself and laptop to a bedroom or the office. One day last week, I worked all day in the office, and I didn’t like it – probably since, I had to close the door so Riley cat wouldn’t come in and chew on all the stuff in it for sewing. So, I moved my office downstairs and I like it a lot. I don’t have to close any doors, I can open windows, I have Alexa to listen to music, I have Riley cat hanging our near me, I have a bathroom, and I have the kitchen.
Niko has been going to sleep earlier than normal and when he wakes up in the middle of the night for a quick pee or when he wakes up in the morning after a long sleep, I am awake and take care of him. I have always done that with him and that allows Nina to get a little bit of extra sleep. She struggles in the sleeping game, and I am a champion sleeper. Yeah, I am tired, but I won’t complaint about it. I get my relaxation time while he is occupied with technology and in the evenings after he falls asleep.
I know tomorrow is Halloween, and I hope is feeling better so we can go out. But if not, no worries as we can get candy at home. I think I saw some candy that Nina purchased from Costco. She did go there after my last work call was finished on Friday.
