Well, Niko is one week into school, and so far, everything has been going great.
It’s a big change for all of us and we are still getting familiar with new routines in the mornings and afternoons.
All last week, Nina and I dropped him off and picked him up together. We are allowed in the mornings to deliver him right in front of his classroom throughout the school year and that is awesome for us. In the future, it may end up one of us doing the morning and the other person doing the afternoon. But for now, we are doing everything together.
Yes, all day long last week, Nina and I watched the clock, and kept waiting for the correct time where we could leave to pick him up. I am glad, that about 10 minutes after we get him, we are already home. We do try to ask him what he did at school, and he explains a little bit, but he is more interested in his iPad, the kitten, and eating and drinking. And he is also a little bit wired and crazy when he comes home and that is fine; it’s all the stuff he couldn’t do all day at school.
For somebody who always wears the same outfit to go out in the world, he actually wore different clothes all week. I just hope that soon he realizes how uncomfortable it is to wear pants and chooses to wear shorts and short sleeve shirts.
On Friday, after we picked him up, and instead of going home, Niko and I walked home, and Nina picked up ice cream for us. Hey, he did awesome, and he deserved something delicious and cold!
On Saturday, he was so happy to be able to stay home, watch TV, and play video games, and I was happy to let him do that. He facetimed my parents on Friday, and they came over to see him on Saturday.
Later in the day on Saturday, I picked up Chinese food for us, and while Niko was eating noodles and shrimp, his first baby tooth came out! Yay!
Today, if he is up for it, I am going to try to get him to go to Target. My parents gave him some money, and I think he would enjoy spending it on something fun. Like a water gun, a toy, and maybe some school snacks for next week.
