Last week, I returned to the office on a hybrid schedule; three days at the office and two days at home. It is louder at the office as a lot of zoom training is happening amongst people at the office and people at home. To compensate for that, I put my headphones on and jam out to music. I just have to remember not to sing out load and do a spontaneous dance. As far as masks, they aren’t requiring them anymore, but I don’t feel comfortable shedding it yet.
The only thing I don’t like is the drive home as it takes me between 60 and 90 minutes. Traffic is bad everywhere and there is a lot of construction going on as well. In the pitch-black early morning, it takes me 30 minutes.
On Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday evenings, I have to make sure I have everything ready to go when it comes to what I will eat and wear. I have also been going to bed earlier than I normally do on those three days.
My food and drinks are on the kitchen island next to my lunch bag, wallet, and keys. So, I can’t leave home without them. I bring my clothes downstairs the night before. I get dressed and freshen up in the downstairs bathroom. I can be out of the house in less than 10 minutes from when my alarm wakes me up at 5:40 am. Yes, I am still waking up Niko at 1 or 2 am for a quick pee. On my days at home, my alarm is set for 7 am.
It was nice to see my coworkers whom I haven’t seen since March of 2020 and introduce myself to new coworkers.
The biggest complaint I have is when I come from work, I feel rushed with Niko as I have less than two hours with him and most of that time is used for eating and relaxing in his bed before he goes to sleep.
