This isn’t about the 1991 Julia Roberts movie. No, this is actually much better.
For the past two Thursday’s, I have slept with Niko. I can only do it when I don’t have to work the following day. I also can’t do it more regularly like every Friday and Saturday, because we always seem to wake up super early. But, we do get an early bedtime and I like that. It’s also nice, because throughout the night, Niko ends up sleeping closer and closer to me. I am very glad I have an eye mask, since he has a lot of lights in his bedroom. I just wish next time, I can turn a few of them off. He also has a noise machine and an iPad playlist curating music from Kiri Te Kanawa; both being played all night long. I just finished reading the autobiography of Richard Marx and he co-wrote one of Kiri’s songs in 1991. Man, 1991, again…hmm!
Niko is so helpful and happy to have company that he is a big help in helping me to make sure everything I do in the evenings after he is sleeping, is completed. He even grabbed my pillows and blanket and put them on his bed. After I tuck him in, he bangs his head on his pillow like 1000 times; that is how he relaxes. It shakes the bed and I can’t sleep until he is done. It usually lasts a few minutes and then he finally shuts his eyeballs and drifts to sleep. For me, and unlike Niko and even Nina, who has difficulty falling asleep, I can just flip a switch and easily fall asleep.
I did have plans for us this past Friday as we going to don our masks and go to La Cantera, an upscale outdoor shopping area, for chocolate and a Jamba Juice. But, the early wake up of 6:30 am had something to say and that was NO. NO was basically his answer for everything I suggested we do on Friday. Yeah, it was a tough day of tired for him and frustrated and tired for me.
On Saturday, both of us were redeemed as he woke up around 8 am and after breakfast, we were finally able to go to La Cantera. I didn’t even bring his wagon and he did a great job walking next to me and neither of us got distracted by the Apple store. Later in the day, Niko and I did some work outside; our back porch needed to be watered. We did that, and then we got each other wet. Oh, the fun we had and the happy screams from him were priceless.
When I put him down for sleeping, I always ask him what his favorite part of the day was. That night, he answered everything! Good job to me!!!!!
