When Niko wakes up in the middle of the night before we are scheduled to get him for a quick pee or in the morning, he instinctively yells DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD. He even did it a few weeks ago when I was not even home in the morning as I was physically at work.
I can hear him clearly even though his door is closed and his music and noise machine are on. I also have a monitor on my nigh table, so everything is amplified in my ears!
When I do get him, he is always so happy to see me and that just makes the start of my day absolutely fantastic. On the weekend mornings, I hang out with him in bed and we play a little bit. During the weekday mornings, I have to run upstairs to get him and come back down as I am working. Last week, except for Friday, he didn’t want to come downstairs in the mornings. So, I had to pack up my work from desk and bring it upstairs so we could hang together.
I don’t mind being the one to get him when he calls for DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD, no matter what time it is. Niko and I let Nina sleep in as she isn’t the best sleeper in the world. We do alternate days to get him for pee and that is around 2:30 am. But, again, if he calls for me earlier, I can bounce out of bed, take care of him, and get right back to sleep without any issues. I have always been a really good sleeper. The one thing I do miss is naps as when Niko was younger and would nap, I would also nap; but, the naps stopped around November of 2019 which was when I started going to school.
