I have been working from home since last April and have had to be in the office a few times since then, but only for a couple of hours in the morning. Then, I was able to finish my shift at home.
Last week, that changed, as I was in the office Tuesday through Friday for my entire shift. I wasn’t alone as 10 of my co-workers joined me. It was weird being around larger groups of people and I still wore my mask when I was in common areas, even though masks aren’t required. It’s definitely going to take some time for me before I can shed the mask for good.
My schedule last week also changed to 7 am to 3:30 pm, instead of my normal 7:30 am to 4 pm. My alarm also changed from 7 am to 5:50 am. Instead of being home at 4 pm, I got home about 4:30 pm.
Also, throw in the fact that everyday last week, rain was in the forecast. So, I had to bring my umbrella everyday and the two worst drives with rain were my first one on Tuesday morning and the last one on Friday afternoon. On Friday, I had to pull over several times to allow emergency vehicles to pass me.
Yeah, I was tired, but am very glad that next week, I will be back working from home with my normal schedule as another group of my co-workers will be in the office. I am scheduled to do one more week at the office next month and then at the end of next month, they are planning to have everybody back.
Being gone all day last week was both nice and quiet, but at the same time, I missed seeing, hearing, and playing with my family. I did get lots of texts of what’s happening along with pictures. When I did eventually arrive home, work and driving dad turned into dad as I only had about 2 hours with Niko before he goes to sleep. So, I had to get a lot of stuff done with him in a very short period, but we did it.
