The Alone Masked Dad

Posted on 05/30/202104/19/2025 by Mark

Last Wednesday and Thursday, I had to actually go to my work for a few hours in the morning. The good thing though, is that once I finished, I was able to come home and continue to work from home for the rest of my shift.

It was nice to have some alone and quiet time with nobody bothering me. I was able to jam loudly to music and sing out loud, both in the car and while I was at my desk; on Wednesday, I saw two people in my area and on Thursday, I saw nobody in my area.

Even though masks aren’t required at my office, nor are vaccinations, I still wore my mask in common areas. I just can’t trust other people to know if they are vaccinated or not vaccinated. It’s not just something we can ask each other. And, I need to make sure I am playing it safe for me and my family. My work is planning to have everybody back at the office in a few months.

Wouldn’t it be cool if all the people who have been vaccinated would paint there noses BLUE! It would make life easier and one step closer to being normal again.

So, then on Friday morning, Nina and Niko had back-to-back doctors appointments and I was left home alone! After they left, I moved my work from home desk to the upstairs sofa, put on some loud music, and reclined and worked.

I do get more alone time in the morning before Niko and Nina wake up during the weekdays. During the weekends and days off for me, I get up when Niko wakes up. I also get alone time in the evenings after Niko goes to sleep; that is when I was able to do all of my schoolwork. I got my MBA in March of this year. Nina and I tuck him into bed and afterwards, we both go downstairs; Nina gets food and drink and then goes upstairs to relax in the bedroom and I clean everything up downstairs and relax. Relaxing for means writing, reading, or watching television. I really want to try meditating, basically, I will put all of my electronics away and sit in a dark room with my eyes closed, for lets say 15 minutes.
