Niko; who just turned 5 years old two weeks ago, really enjoys playing Mario video games.
I can’t play Mario video games with him because he is so much better and faster than me. I always die immediately when we do play together and most of the time, when I do die, he leaves my behind in my bubble! When we do play together, I let him lead the way and I hide in the corner when we have a battle with a big enemy! The only one I can play and sometimes beat him at is Mario Kart 8; a racing game.
One of the games we have is called Super Mario Maker 2; where you can make your own courses and play other people courses. He even watches videos of people playing Super Mario Maker 2 on YouTube kids on his iPad. He studies them very diligently for things he can add to his own courses. Some of the YouTube people he watches are very popular for playing video games (Stampylonghead, Brick 101, and Stacy Plays).
Niko makes courses that are super difficult; basically, lots of enemies and other items that can kill you! I am proud of him because he has several uploaded courses that have actually been played by other people. Did I tell he is 5 years old? I mean, if the people playing his courses knew that, they would be amazed at his creations!
It’s really fun to watch him play Super Mario Maker 2 as he constantly asks us what he should put down next or wants us to play his unfinished course. He gets so excited and often after half a second of us playing, he takes the controller from us and does it on his own.
He does get frustrated when he plays other peoples courses that are too hard and he can’t complete it. When that happens, we tell him to stop and play another course or take a break from video games.
