When I came home from my first day back at work (after 4 weeks off) on Tuesday, May 31st, I wasn’t sure what state my wife and son would be in (because this was the first day my wife would be alone with him all day). In the back of my brain, I was expecting them to greet me with HUGE SMILES at the door (hopefully not naked and dirty, although naked would be good for Nina, but dirty would be bad for both), but the 1st floor was exactly how I had left it at 6:30 am — dark and uninhabited (not even the cat was present).
I peeked in the bedroom and found the 3 people I loved the most and they were in bed — cat sleeping, baby eating, and Nina relaxing. Now, my big question was who do I kiss first? Well, it was Nina 1st, baby 2nd, and the cat 3rd. I couldn’t wait to hold Niko (and change his diaper) so Nina could take a shower. I missed his presence while I was at work. Yes, I have pictures, but the real thing is so much better.
I won’t bore you with details of our evening activities, but I will tell you that I ate dinner (a very nice frozen meal that Nina prepared several weeks ago) while Nina breastfed and she ate dinner while I breastfed (I meant, while I held the baby — although I did give him his first bottle a few days ago with Nina milk and he actually took most of it without throwing up in my arms or fussing).
