Boss Baby

Posted on 09/13/202004/19/2025 by Mark

This isn’t about the movie with Alec Baldwin as the Boss Baby, but I will tell you I have seen that movie many times thanks in large part to Niko.

This is about a boy named Niko who likes to boss his parents around and when he doesn’t get what he wants, he screams and he screams loud. Most of the time, he gets what he wants because I can’t stand the screaming. Most of his demands are food related!

So, what else is happening on my end besides work and school.

Well, for the past few weeks, I have been craving Chinese food. The last time I had it was for Fathers Day. Yesterday, I ordered noodles and rice for me and noodles for Niko from a local restaurant and afterwards, we had shakes from Sonic. Yeah, I took boss baby with me and yes, I allowed him to bring his iPad and a remote control fire truck. You try telling a 4 year old no!

I know that I am tying to eat better and Chinese food and a shake aren’t the best things in the world to eat, but I don’t care; I am an adult and if I want to eat something bad, I will do that.

Sometimes, I can be a bossy dad and tell the boss baby to do something and that something was to relax with mom in bed yesterday afternoon so I could mow the front lawn; hey, he obliged and was happy to be with mom and under my new blanket that just got delivered on Friday. Of course, he wanted my blanket and I told him no!

It actually wasn’t too hot when I mowed, but I still sweated a lot and it was dripping from my head. I am not one to boast about our lawn, but it always smells and looks really nice after I mow. This morning, I did our backyard. My exercise has been completed and I am good for a few weeks. I do like the fact that I don’t have to pay and rely on somebody else to mow my lawn. When it gets a tad bit cooler out, I may reach out to our old lawn guy and see if he can help with making our yard nicer for our garden; like pulling weeds and digging some more holes. One of the best things happens after I mow and that is I get to take a cold shower with nobody interrupting me. You know, mowing the lawn feels very therapeutic for me as it’s just me and the outside with no interruptions. And, when it’s finished, I always feel like I accomplished something productive. I am by no means handy so I guess the lawn is my domain!

In July, Nina’s Apple watch stopped working so I gave her mine. I purchased a Fitbit Inspire. A few days ago, her old Apple watch started working again so I get my Apple watch back and will try and sell my Fitbit in a few days. I am glad my Fitbit was purchased for $50 and I didn’t splurge and spend a lot more money for a fancier one. I haven’t ventured out to stores for shopping since the pandemic started in March, so I am very thankful for Amazon as my new Apple watch bands will be delivered tomorrow. It’s funny, but every time I pass our front door, I peek out to see if we have any Amazon deliveries. No matter what the package may be, the boss baby insists on opening it!

That is all I have for today. I will be back next Sunday with more words that I hope make sense to me and you.
