my first fathers day

Posted on 06/20/201604/19/2025 by Mark
Yesterday, I celebrated my FIRST Father’s Day (or, as I want to call it National Penis Day) and I will tell you that I enjoyed every moment and wish it could’ve lasted longer.  I wore a t-shirt that Nina gave me while we were in the hospital…It say’s WORLDS GREATEST FARTER, I MEAN FATHER!!!  Niko wore a t-shirt that said DADDYS LITTLE MAN!!!  We totally had his outfit picked out the night before and he looked absolutely adorable in that shirt along with shorts and socks.

Nina, her Mom, Niko (our 7-week old), and I met my parents and brother at Bill Miller BBQ for breakfast tacos.  Yeah, not extravagant, but it was very easy, quick, yummy, and close to our house.

Hey, I got cards from my son and my cat (how they picked them out, paid for them, and signed them, I have no clue!!).  My wife got me some awesome printed color pictures of Niko and I am excited to bring some of them to work to showcase my work!!!   My parents got me an Amazon gift card which is great for me because I can buy whatever I want.  That is what everybody got me for my birthday in April and I got new sneakers, new hanging out at home shorts, baby supplies, a new phone case, a George Harrison tribute CD, a USB reading light for my laptop (so I can write in bed), and I still have money left!!!   Right now, I just have 1 item in my Amazon wish list but before I buy, I really want to look at them in person. It is a Timbuk2 messenger bag (REI carries them).  I still carry around my Jansport backpack from High School with either my football stat supplies or my miscellaneous items when we go on vacation. My laptop is just a tad too big to fit comfortably in it (so, during football, I have to carry a separate laptop bag and a separate camera bag).  I think it is time for me to become an adult and look more professional (like a father).  I think I can get Nina to take all of my Beatles patches off my backpack for me!!!  My brother gave me a check and with him, you have to read the remitter line because he always writes something funny in it (for this check, he used some very inappropriate foul language).  I don’t have anything against that type of language as I have in the past used those words in my writings — but not anymore.

I got to spend some quality time with Niko in the afternoon.  I don’t get much father-son time during the workweek because we bring him upstairs for bedtime around 7:30 and I usually get home around 4:30.  We took a nap together upstairs (Nina joined us and I always enjoy her company).  After our fantastic nap, we all went downstairs and he took a nap on me while I was sitting in the rocking chair.  I finally had the opportunity to watch a few episodes of Bloodline season 2 on Netflix and during that time, Nina made some very nice meals for the freezer for the future and baked me banana bread. Yes, I cleaned everything up — I don’t mind doing it because Nina does so much for me.

Topping the evening off was giving Niko a bath!!! I just love his little naked body!!!   It is even fun dressing him up for bedtime!!!   I couldn’t have asked for anything better for my first Father’s Day.
