On Sunday, October 2nd, Niko turned 5 months old and that time sure has gone by super-fast. It really does feel like yesterday when Nina and I were at the hospital. To celebrate this momentous occasion and also the Jewish New Year, we had a very early brunch at my parents’ house. This was the first time we have ventured out to them since the baby was born. And, the reason being is it is far from where we live (about an hour) and everything takes longer with the baby.
Niko was a little bit overwhelmed by everything, but he never complained about it (by that, I mean crying in anger). He slept for a little while in the car going and leaving, he took a short nap on me at my parents’ house, and he ate a few times in my old bedroom.
For the past few weeks, Niko hasn’t been sleeping well for night-time and naps and that is because he is growing, teething may be starting, and he is learning to crawl. I probably wouldn’t sleep well either if that was happening to me!!! Every time we eat in front of him, he is extremely interested and that fun-ness will start in a few weeks. For this, I am going to have to be brave and eat foods that I am not fond of just so he can see us eating it.
Oh, next week, Nina and I will be celebrating 6 years of marriage (10/10/10) and on October 9th, we have hired a babysitter so we can do something. What that something is, I have no idea!!! Last year on our anniversary, we had to cancel our dinner and hotel plans because Nina wasn’t feeling well (you can blame the baby).
Yes, it is going to be really weird leaving the house without Niko (please tell me this feeling is common). The babysitter isn’t a teenager or a grandparent!!! It is actually one of the nurses from the hospital who took a liking to us and Niko. She showed us how to change a diaper, bathe him, and pick him up properly. She also rocked the baby to sleep a few times (while playing jazz music) so Nina and I could get some sleep.
