It really boosts my confidence when Niko says my cooking is good! I am not an elaborate chef; my recipes are very simple. I mean, anybody can make an omelette, pasta, rice, or heat-up leftovers in the microwave. Nina, on the other hand, makes much more complicated recipes and usually, our Instant Pot is the recipient!
So, now, I will tell you something that may just put me in the running for husband of the year; is that even a thing? I do the dishes! No, I don’t sleep with them; well, a few times a lone plastic cup or bowl has been in our bed all night long. Yes, we eat in bed! No matter how many dishes need to be cleaned and placed neatly in the dishwasher or pots and pans that need to be cleaned and placed neatly on the kitchen counter-tops, I always do it. Niko even puts his dirty dishes in the sink.
Niko actually does a really good job of not getting in the way when we cook and he understands us and listens to us when we tell him not safe, hot things. He likes to watch us and wants to help. A few days ago, I made us an omelette and he carried his little chair from the living room to the kitchen so he could help; yes, I picked him up and let him stir a little bit. Although he doesn’t do it with me, he often asks Nina to pick him up so he could tell her to open the pantry or fridge! Will he be a chef later on?
Then the following morning, I empty the dishwasher so Nina and and Niko have a clean slate. On my non work days, Niko helps me empty it. Sometimes, he grabs something from the dishwasher and runs away with it while laughing. He dashes slowly toward the fireplace which is less than 50 feet from the dishwasher and I always catch him!
It’s funny that Nina and I tend to use the baby bowls and plates instead of real “glass” plates!
It’s also funny that when I come home from work, Niko has several bowls, plates, and cups on his table; he doesn’t like food mixing! Even when I give him 1 or 2 cookies or something similar, he wants a new plate or bowl.
