Niko turned double-digits last month, and with that came independence for himself. By that, I mean, he enjoys relaxing in his bedroom during the day with his iPad and/or Switch 2 and most times he has a few drinks on his night-table! Every hour, Nina and I either text him, FaceTime him, or just yell from the bottom of the staircase, just to make sure he is OK. He yells down, “I AM FINE.”
He also hasn’t needed us to sit with him in the evening until he falls asleep. I didn’t mind doing that as it was dark and quiet, and I can read my book while he wills himself to fall asleep. It’s funny, because, a few minutes before his bedtime, he will tell us, “I need a few minutes as I am getting my life together.” By that, he is getting everything ready for nighttime (closing the window and curtains, turning on some fun lights, getting his pillows and blankets in the proper position, and turning his fan on). Since school ended, we have moved his bedtime to 7 pm, but it’s been a few minutes past that as something always comes up to delay it.
I did have Niko as my eating partner on Thursday late afternoon for dinner and Friday for lunch after we swam at the local community center.
Thursday was Applebees, and he ordered the Shrimp and Parmesan Sirloin, and I had Fish and Chips. If you asked my little food reviewer, his was delicious and he had his leftovers for breakfast on Friday. Mine was not great as it tasted like it came from a frozen bag of fish. Next time, I should get a steak or ribs! On Friday, Niko and I had lunch at the Asian Cafe, our favorite place for Chinese food. He really wanted junk food (cheeseburger and hot cocoa) at the community center, but I was firm and said nope. So, we went across the street for Chinese. Niko and I are not adventurous and we always the order the same thing, and on Friday, it was more of the same old same old! Wonton soup, fried dumplings, fried sushi, and lo mein noodles with no vegetables. I actually got sweet and sour chicken as I wanted something else besides noodles. No complaints from either of us, except I wish I had ordered noodles to go as I had nothing leftover and I really like the noodles.
Yesterday, Niko and I were in, and Nina went shopping at the Gudrun Sjödén outlet in St. Paul. Being that today is Father’s Day, I don’t have any big plans. I do need to run out and get some cash for our lawn guy who is coming tomorrow. I do have lawn mower, and can do it, but sometimes, I am lazy and get somebody to do it for me (because it usually takes two or three mows for me to complete it).
