Besides Cork, my favorite character is Henry Meloux, who is a member of the Grand Medicine Society following the path of Ojibwe healing. Henry and Cork have a deep relationship and Cork often seeks his guidance.
In this book, we get a great background for Henry, and for the first time, he talks about his son who he knows is alive, but had never met. Cork, Henry, and former sheriff Wally Shanno go to Canada where Henry gets to meet his son, but of course, it ain’t that simple. Stuff happens, people die. Oh, also happening at the same time are some serious family issues at the O’Connor household.
A great quote from Henry to Cork that made me LOL:
“Sometimes trying to talk sense to you, Corcoran O’Connor, is as useful as trying to talk a fart out of smelling.”
In my last book review for Copper River, I mentioned Mark Ruffalo would be a great Cork. That got me thinking, who would play Henry? I thought of Edward James Olmos or Morgan Freeman.
