Blood Hollow (Cork O’Connor, 4) – by William Kent Krueger

Posted on 05/13/202605/13/2026 by Mark

If you review my reading history, a common theme appears and that theme is police and/or private detective fiction crime thrillers with lots of books.

Jesse Stone, Spenser, Sunny Randall, Alex Cross, Michael Bennett, Women’s Murder Club, Lucas Davenport, Virgil Flowers, Elvis Cole, Joe Pike, Max Rupert, Rushmore McKenzie, and now let’s add Cork O’Connor.

Lucas, Virgil, McKenzie, and Cork all take place in Minnesota, and I love that and also the fact that the weather takes on a bunch of different facets of life. And, I am only a year in to living in Minnesota, after spending my entire life in Texas.

Cork is a former sheriff, and when he is not being an unpaid consultant to the police, he is the owner of Sam’s Place, a hamburger grill! With the help from his kids and sometimes his wife, when she is not being a prominent lawyer, it’s a big success during the spring and summer and closed during the Minnesota winter.

In this one, Jo is defending a murder suspect, but Cork doesn’t think that person did it. Jo brings Cork on to help investigate, and he does just that. The list of potential suspects and their individual. back stories was very interesting and for one of them, I was thrown completely off by what Cork discovered.

The person who was accused of the crime, and before he was arrested and put in jail, had a moment where he claims Jesus appeared to him and he was wearing Minnetonka Moccasins! I thought that was really funny.

Cork even uncovers something on the current sheriff, and that discovery makes him resign. By the end of the book, a new sheriff is brought in. I won’t say who it is!

In one of the Facebook brook groups I belong to, a post was shared about William Kent Krueger will be making an appearance in Minneapolis next month. I am stoked and am planning on attending.
