This is not a genre that I typically read (fiction, apocalypse). But, because somebody I know and have met wrote it, I wanted to give it a read. Even though I have never read it (but, have heard of it), it reminded of the Stephen King book, The Langoliers.
The premise revolves around a mailman named Lyle who notices animals are disappearing on his route, but this is also happening everywhere and nobody seems to know why. Lyle befriends a retired biology teacher on his route and they have the same thoughts. Along with an online forum, a shared belief is communicated. They all keep track and journal everything. That teacher has 30 years of journaling of what she sees. Lyle’s wife, Dana doesn’t really believe him at first, but when something happens close to them, she becomes a believer and helps Lyle do what is needed. Well, Lyle and company figure some things out, and if you want to know what happens, read the book. See, no spoilers! But, I will say, I AM HERE.
The book itself is very detailed about the animals that are being “subtracted” and eventually, it swings to people being subtracted. It was an interesting premise to write about.
