Hostage – by Robert Crais

Posted on 01/17/202601/17/2026 by Mark

As I have recently finished reading all the Cole and Pike books by Robert Crais, as well as Demolition Angel by Crais, it was time to tackle his stand-a-lone books.

This one is about a former hostage negotiator in L.A who is now the Chief of Police in a small town. A hostage situation comes up in his small town, and the bad people find something at that house they want to take as well, not knowing that it belongs to somebody else, and that somebody else is mob connected. Also, the Chief of Police’s wife and daughter get taken as hostages by the people connected to the mob. And, the Chief of Police has to follow there instructions to save his family. So, lots of suspense and action throughout the book.

I liked how the book flowed as it provided a perspective from a lot of the main characters as well as time and location.

I liked the confidence of the Chief of Police (and the fact, that he loved his family and would do anything for them), and how he had to deal with everything happening around him and not be stressed. I can easily see more books for him.

Yes, I will be watching the movie very soon.
