Normally, I don’t review books from a series (only, the first and the last). But, these Cole and Pike books are getting better. Yeah, they are predictable as we know Cole and Pike will figure out who did what to who. But, how they get from point A to point B is very different. I also love how well Cole and Pike work together and sometimes it’s without a lot of communication.
So, in this one, somebody is killed and that person claims they are looking for Elvis Cole as they claim they are a parent to him. We learn about Cole’s search as a teenager looking for his father at traveling carnivals as his mom told him he flies out of cannons.
Cole ends up helping the LAPD. Carol Starkey is in this one as well and so is John Chen, a forensic specialist with the LAPD. I would love to see more books about both.
Well, the action never disappoints me, and when something happened to Cole, I was very surprised.
I was glad to see Lucy come back. I like her as Cole’s girlfriend. She is a lawyer, so she always has good feedback for Cole. Kind of like in the Spenser books by Robert Parker and others, his girlfriend is a therapist.
