I’ve been reading the Prey series with Lucas Davenport as the main character by John Sandford. I wasn’t planning to read this one yet—I wanted to finish the Prey books first—but I spotted it, along with The Dark Angel (Letty Davenport #2), at the library and couldn’t resist checking them both out. They also had some of the later Prey books, which I may pick up when I get to them in the series.
I prefer reading on my Kindle, but it was nice for a change to hold a physical book.
Letty is Lucas’s adopted daughter, and she shares much of his personality—which is why they work so well together. She’s tough, independent, and doesn’t take any crap from anyone. In the Prey books, she witnessed her mother’s death and has even killed some bad people. In this book, she’s older and working for the Department of Homeland Security as a Researcher/Investigator. She’s partnered with another DHS agent, and together they investigate a case involving stolen oil. Other things happen on the case trail.
I liked it, and now I’m looking forward to starting The Dark Angel (Letty Davenport #2).
