On Sunday June 29th, the three of us went to a Potato Pancake Breakfast at a local festival. When I showed Niko the menu the day before, he was excited for it. It was nothing fancy, just regular or potato pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, and either apple juice, orange juice, or coffee.
Later on that same day, Niko and I returned, but it was for the “carnival” food and rides. We shared a corn dog, street corn, chicken tenders, and a strawberry lemonade. Niko’s favorite was by far the street corn. The only ride we did was the Ferris Wheel. We got a funnel cake for the 5 minute drive home!
Yesterday and a few minutes after 4 pm, Niko wanted steak, and being new to the area, I am not aware of any “good” places to steak yet. We mutually agreed to a place that we visited a few weeks ago. Niko wanted to sit outside, and I was fine with that, despite it being a bit warm. I wasn’t expecting any rain or wind, even there were a few dark clouds looming around the area. A felt a few drops of rain, so we moved to a table with an umbrella. As soon as our food arrived, the wind picked up and it started to rain. The staff quickly took off the umbrellas and I asked somebody what we do, and she said go inside and find a table. Niko and I did that, and a few minutes later, our waitress found us. So, what did Niko and I eat? Well, Niko didn’t get a steak. He got a Nashville Chicken Sandwich with no spice, no pickles, and no tomatoes. I got Pistachio Crusted Walleye as it comes. Both were really good, and I really enjoyed the pistachio flavoring of mine and the Walleye fish. I just learned Walleye is the state fish of Minnesota.
Today, Niko wanted his steak, and he did a Google search for restaurants, and the one that popped up first was a super duper fancy expensive restaurant, and I said nope. Let’s find something closer. We ended up at a new place, with a very similar menu to the place we went to yesterday. Niko had a Ribeye steak with tots and fries, and I had a bacon cheeseburger. We shared a potato skins appetizer; it was smothered in cheese and bacon. He gave the potatoes and steak three thumbs up, and mine was meh. I would go back, but won’t get a burger again.
Afterwards, we stopped at a local ice cream shop where Niko got a shake with chocolate almond fudge and we also got some chocolate cookies. Niko says it was good, and I will agree with him, even though I didn’t have any.
On a side eating note, Nina and I are excited to try new restaurants in the area.
