Last week, we had a few nights where Niko struggled to go to sleep. This happens occasionally, and usually, Nina and I can pinpoint what the issue is and get it resolved. Growing pains, brain development, hungry, thirsty, or has to use the bathroom. None of this, though, was it. Then, Niko mentioned it’s his bed as all of a sudden, it’s not comfortable.
This is not good, because his sleep is the most important and Nina and I don’t go to sleep until he is sleeping. And, if he has a bad sleep and by that I mean, if he gets up super early, I am up with him. I have always done this as this gives Nina an extra hour or two to sleep.
Well, immediately, I thought oh this is actually an easy fix. Niko and I will swap beds. He has a King and I have a Queen, and Nina also has a King. Yes, we all sleep in separate beds and rooms, as this is pretty common in marriages. It may sound strange to some, but it works for us. Like many couples, we discovered that sleeping apart leads to better sleep! Nina is also the not the best sleeper, and any type of movement or noise may wake her and then it will take a long time for her to go back to sleep. We stared sleeping in separate beds a few years ago when we were both sick as we didn’t want to bother each other, and afterwards, we just kept it going.
So, that night, not only did we swap beds but also rooms. He claimed, the next morning it was a success! On Thursday, Nina and I physically moved the beds to the appropriate rooms. I got the primary bedroom back with his King and he got his cozy bedroom back with my Queen! Now, we need a new Queen bed to list of things to buy for the new house. Make that two Queens, as we will also get Nina a new one.
