When I Was Your Age: Life Lessons, Funny Stories & Questionable Parenting Advice from a Professional Clown – by Kenan Thompson

Posted on 06/19/2024 by Mark

I had this one in my TBR pile for a while, and I downloaded a sample when it came out, but I just couldn’t get into to. But, last weekend, at the local library, they had this book available, and I decided to try it again.

Well, I am glad I did, because I enjoyed it. I only knew him Good Burger and SNL. I had not clue he got started as a 16 year on a show called All That on Nickelodeon. Guess who else was on that show? Yes, Kel Mitchell. One of their first sketches was a Good Burger skit! Later, they starred on another called Kenan and Kel.

He hit rock bottom after his Nickelodeon days, his accountant stole his earnings and never reported anything to the IRS. Despite that, Kenan never gave up and he persevered. I mean, dude he has been on SNL for a long time.

He talked about his kids a lot throughout the book, and you can tell, he loves being a dad. He also talks about several SNL hosts and players.

Overall, I enjoyed it.
